3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 GregClow (2736) - Toronto, Ontario, - NOV 8, 2012Bottle from the LCBO. Dark rich ruby-black colour with a thick tan head. Big aroma of the expected notes of chocolate & coffee, along with a nice hit of vanilla, and a pleasant boozy warmth. Big mouthfeel. Flavour follows the aroma - chocolate, coffee, vanilla - along with anise and some dark fruit, and quite a warm finish. Not something I can drink a lot of, but in moderation, pretty damn nice.

Holy good dessert. Black with a small beige head. Light lacing. Aroma of mocha; chocolate and coffee; and vanilla ice cream. Taste is rich and chocolatey sweet with a mild bitterness. The alcohol is very well masked. Medium-full bodied and smooth.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 yumyum (198) - barrie, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 11, 2013
Exactly what u would expect. Pours dark as night. Initial coffee on the nose with slightly more subtle chocolate coming through after. Same deal in the taste although fairly. Equally balanced between th two flavours. Slightly on the sweet side. Very smooth mouthfeel. Alcohol well hidden. Overall very enjoyable brew. Despite mix of two brews still lacks some complexity would have again but wouldn’t seek it out
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 _angst_ (1745) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - MAY 5, 2013
Bomber bought through Brill & Co. pours pitch black with a small creamy mocha head that is rather quick to dissipate while leaving some lacing on the glass. Smell is sweet and tiny acetic with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, milk chocolate, charred wood, toffee, fudge and hints of vanilla beans. Taste is sweet, bitter and tiny fruity tart with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla beans, wood, peat and hints of sweet soy sauce, toffee, caramel and fudge. Mouthfeel is round, sticky sweet, very tiny tart, tiny boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, milk chocolate, vanilla beans, wood and hints of peat. A bit too much of everything…
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 yrstruly (191) - Guelph, Ontario, CANADA - APR 21, 2013
Pours black with a frothy caramel head. Aroma is of chocolate, milk, coffee, vanilla, and malt. Taste is very sweet up front, huge body, with strong chocolate presence and a very slightly bitter herbal finish. Medium carbonation, and the chocolate lingers forever. Hard to drink a lot of this - definitely a dessert beer for sharing.

UPDATED: APR 17, 2013 650 ml bottle. Pours black with light tan head that dissipates quickly. Aromas of dark chocolate milk, coffee, vanilla, and heavily roasted malt. Flavors of chocolate, sweet coffee, and brownies with perhaps a bit of soy sauce. Very nice but carbonated and quite warm - the alcohol is present in heat and taste.

65cl bottle, served in Duvel cup. Pours black with a clear light brown head, very nice. Soft cocoa blended with lots of vanilla notes on the nose, really pleasant. No coffee until tasting, added to the other elements. There’s a milky touch, and worth to mention the moderate sweetness in the back (very well balanced by the hops). Very oaky-like sometimes despite the fact it’s not barrel aged. No alcohol at all. Creamy mouthfeel, perfect carbonation. Exellent!!!

Bottle. Wow. Pours black with a thick brown head. Aroma is chocolate; specifically hot cocoa; and hot coffee. That’s all she wrote. That flavor is a bit more complicated. Chocolate for days, unsurprisingly; also coffee of course. But also creaminess and a big boozey kick of alcohol. The alcohol kick is a tad aggressive for this beer, unless you take into account that this beer is in fact very strong. It didn’t bother me. Mouth feel is slick and oily. Carbonation is moderately low. No lacing. High quality; Southern Tier is used to that. Tasty, drinkable, effective. Well-crafted.
