4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Peacehammer (483) - California, USA - MAY 31, 2012
pours deep orange. Wood and hop aroma. The malt and hops of the beer, which are similar to regular unearthly, are perfectly complimented by the oak and bourbon notes, giving the beer a great malty, bourbony sweetness. This is easily the best barrel aged ipa I’ve had.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 boxofrane (1180) - pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 31, 2012
Bomber. Pours semi-clear copper with two fingers of off-white head, decent lacing. Aroma is mostly floral with some minor astringency. There is some maltiness in the nose as well but it’s not overly pronounced. Taste is more bitter than hoppy and really leaves a dryness on the tongue. You can really taste a lot of oak on the finish. This is really solid but the oak is a little strong in the taste for an ipa.

Draft - pours amber with white head. Flavor is mainly bourbon and oak. Very sweet. I’m glad my buddy got served the wrong beer so I could try this one.

Oak, citrus, hops, malt . . . nice balance of all. Good nose. Smooth for high ABV.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Discgolfin (36) - - MAY 23, 2012

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 drpimento (1936) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 21, 2012
Fabulous beer; the very esscence of an IIPA. Served at a good temperature with a thick, cream-colored, foamy head that slowly settles and lots of coating lace. Color is a clear orange copper amber with some bubble trails. Aroma is a great blend of volatile malt, hop, caramel, toffee, nougat, vanilla, nutmeats. Flavor is similar to nose with great bitter -sweet - carbonic tang that are all forward and yet balanced. Body is full but slight occassional slight clashes between bitter and tang. Good carbonation. Finish is like flavor, tapers slow, almost no alcohol character. Truely great beer!
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 alcaponejunior (349) - Texas, USA - MAY 21, 2012
Great looking, coppery to light brown, mostly clear, rising bubbles, good head and lace.
Smell: Hoppy as hell. Oaky. Some malt character.
A complex array of vanilla, fruits, hop oils, and perhaps bourbon comes through on the taste. There’s plenty of malts but there is also a lot going on here, so they’re a bit more subtle than you’d think.
A relatively full bodied beer with an oily hoppy, woody finish, and some alcohol warming.
This beer really is amazing. I picked it up not realizing it was oak aged, and boy was I surprised! Awesome job on a great beer from a great brewery!
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 PorterPounder (4610) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - MAY 18, 2012
Tallahassee, Fl - Liquor Loft - 22 oz bomber. Pours a medium copper with a
decently frothy off-white head. Aroma has a hint of molasses, some oaky
notes. Flavor is decidedly sweet with some vanilla notes, a hint of bourbon, some sweet molasses. Just this side of cloying. Mouthfeel is too sticky and sweet. I have decided that barrel aged translates to "cloyingly sweet" and should spend my money on other things.
3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 jbruner (1118) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - MAY 14, 2012
Pours a nice copper brown color with small white head and decent lacing. Smell is faintly of hops and a bit of oak. Taste is the oaky citrus up front and a nice clean finish with a bit of burn on the way down. Very solid DIPA.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 VRBJG (159) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - MAY 13, 2012
Pours hazy orange with a thick tan head. Tastes a bit malty/caramel/hops. Smooth on the palate. Goos brew...I would come back to it. Not much by way of oak though.
