Aroma is sweet and thick with citrus and caramel edges. Appearance is a light red/brown with a small white head. Taste is also sweet and thick, leaving a bitter aftertaste. Palate is slightly thick. Overall a nice sweet, thick beer, but not too hoppy.

Aroma of bourbon, wood, pine, hints of citrus. Taste of bourbon, wood, pine, alcohol. A very solid DIPA barrel aged. Well done.

Backlog. Bottle @ Green Lion Inn 2011, aged for about 12 months in average conditions. The aging took a toll, still a solid beer as always from ST.

Plenty of hops, as well as a good bourbon taste. Pretty much what you’d expect from Southern Tier.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours orangish with a white head. Taste strong, pine, sweet. I thought this was so so. I would skip this and stay with the Un'earthly that is not oak aged. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Terribly unbalanced. The oak just takes over, leaving the aromatic qualities of the hop lost in the vine. Malt forward, very boozy, and cloudy in the glass. Found it tremendously inferior to their regular 2x IPA, and most of their other stuff, which is generally of a very high caliber.

Bottle pour. This oaked DIPA by #southerntier is awesome! It’s got a very sweet and clean flavor to it with a robust malt bill. The aroma is ripe with oak scents!

On tap at Stubbys. Cara-amber with a slowly evaporating tan head. Aroma of oak, vanilla, caramel, peaches, fruit, citrus and alcohol. Taste is big with booze, fruits, citrus, oak, light vanilla and a high alpha acid finish. Nice.

Bomber from Ray’s in Tosa. Pours a very clear orange with a white head leaving many spots of lace. Aroma has heavy vanilla and citrus, with pine and toffee. Taste is of sweet vanilla, oranges, spicy pine, a nice woody backbone and a very solid caramel malt base. A terrific balanced blend. A bit alcoholly. Medium to full bodied and dry, but slightly syrupy. Finishes bittersweet with a good blend of the two, and spicy earthy dry. The original was over fruity and sticky, and the oak version mellows that while actually adding components and -- never thought would be said about an oaked IPA -- is superior to the original.
