Commercial Description:
“brewed for the harvest” This beer begins in spring when oat seeds are sown as soon as the soil can be worked. Meanwhile, select types of barley are planted with hopes that Mother Nature will be kind. Our brewers wait patiently until the legumes are mature and ready for the scythe. Upon delivery to the brewery, these ingredients are mixed together in the mash tun where they steep, creating a rich molasses-like liquid. Spicy hops are boiled with the thick brew, giving balance and complexity. Brewers yeast feasts upon the rich sugars, concluding its transformation into oatmeal stout. Pour Oat into a snifter, allow its thick tan head to slowly rise, releasing unbridled aromas. The color of Oat is as dark as a moonless night. The first sip reveals Oat’s thick and nourishing taste. Like a haversack to a horse, a bottle of this stout is a meal in itself. Enjoy responsibly. 11.0% abv • 238º L

bottle shared at pops- what a heavenly beer. pours black with a little tan head. nose is one of the finest I’ve come into contact with, lush and fresh incredibly enticing and complex. Overtones of chocolate with a background of berries, hints of a hop backbone, and sweet desserts like brownies or chocolate cake. Taste was incredible. Chocolate up front, with a definite oat character. Molasses, caramel, bavarian chocolate cake, thick layers of everything that is good in life. Hop bitterness balances it to near perfection. Mouthfeel is absolutely perfect. Fluffy, yet sticky, goes down silky smooth. One of the finest beers I’ve yet come in contact with. Perfect cap to an evening of fine beers and pool with pops. Cheers!

~1.5 year old bottle. Pours dark brown/black with a small tan head. Aroma of heavy roasted malt, bitter notes, and light alcohol. Taste is really nice. Very malty, with some bitter chocolate malt notes, sweet caramel, light oat. Finish is lightly bitter. Mouth is really nice. The oat gives a nice full body. Just enough carbonation. Overall, a very solid brew. Would love to drink this more often; if only it were available in Georgia...

Pitch black with a one finger tan head. Aroma is nice roasted oat and malt with a hint of cinnamon. Flavor is almost exactly like cracker jack, especially on the finish. Not as strong an oat character as I was hoping for but it’s still there. Deeper you get the more the hops come out giving it an almost spicy taste. Fills the mouth completely and has a slight warming effect. Nice, but not as creamy or oaty as I was hoping for.

Pours a one finger tan head that fades slowly to a thin layer, leaving some lace. Black color, no highlights. Light carbonation and heavy bodied. Chocolate nose. Flavor is sweet chocolate, oats and some caramel. Smooth, hints of baker’s chocolate at finish. High ABV is hidden. $8.95 for a 22oz bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, Ma.

BOTTLE: pours very dark, tan head. Aroma of roated malt, some chocolate, not overpowering. Mouthfeel is nice, heavy, silky smooth. Taste is roast, bittersweet chocolate, some carbonation, and just a little bit of alcohol/hop poking through. Great beer!

Very dark, produced a large enough head, luxuriously thick, with a very fine frothy quality, dark beige in color. Aroma was mostly roast and chocolate, there might be a hint of coffee but its a hint at most. Flavor is nicely full and sweet with chocolate and dark sweet malts. The mouthfeel is full and creamy with a fine carbonation, and that big oily texture that you get from all the oatmeal, and a little bit of the tannins too, but its counteracted by the superb carbonation in this. Finish is long with bittersweet chocolate and tannins, perhaps a mild spicy bitterness from the hops. Fermentation profile is very clean. The 11% is damn near unbelievable, this beer shows almost no hint of the alcohol and it drinks as easy and quickly (uh oh!) as any 5% oatmeal stout. Its a bottle full of WIN.
