heemer77 (4294), Savannah, Missouri, USA Jun 30, 2008 Thanks to iowaherkeye for the bottle. The body is perfectly black with a light tan and orange head. The aroma has sweet cocoa and some walnuts. There is also some rich caramel. The taste has rich cocoa and some toasted peanuts. This has a very thick body that is sticky. The chocolate is the main character, but it also gets complemented with some light spicy hops in the finish. Another good one from the kings of big brews. Pwn3d (1040), Manhattan, New York, USA Jun 30, 2008 Great stout, but prefer Jah-va. Pours a pitch brownish/black body with dark brown head. The aroma is molasses, chocolate, and roasty malts. The flavor is roasty, chocolate malts. Some alcohol in the finish. thedm (3833), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Jun 25, 2008 This bottled brew from JSquire at a rating party poured a small sized head of foamy fine to medium sized brown colored mostly lasting bubbles that left behind an opaque dark black brown colored body with no visible carbonation. Its aroma was of mild roasted dark brown malts. The mouth feel was thich chewey smooth at ths start and mild ly tingly in its finish. The flavor contained notes of dark malts mild roasted malt with a slight coffee aftertatse. Snojerk321 (1917), San Diego, California, USA Jun 23, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours deep brown almost black, virtually no head to speak of. Nose carried big aromas of black fruits with molasses and coffee. Finish was creamy and very complex. Different than most Imperial Stouts, which makes it a winner in my book. doubleo (1096), San Diego, California, USA Jun 19, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours black with a thin, crisp brown head. Smells very toasty and malty sweet, dark of course. Tastes very dark and roasty toasty, slightly sweet, slight coffee, slight chocolate, slight alcohol flavors. Full bodied, good carbonation. lamas (709), Adams Morgan, Washington DC, USA Jun 19, 2008 22 oz. bottle. A jet-black pour with a smallish chestnut head. Aroma of dark chocolate, vanilla beans, caramel and some light citrusy hoppiness. Goes down very smooth. Almost oily mouthfeel. Very sweet upfront with loads of caramel and chocolate. Finishes with a roasty bitterness. Some alcohol is present throughout. Solid stout. hiphop (84), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 18, 2008 Bomber pours thick and black into a snifter like motor oil. Opaque as beer can get. Had to pour aggressively to get a small head - dark tan in colour. Wow, what a stout. Aroma of all the best stouts - chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, molasses, hops as always from southern tier, but not so much alcohol. Considering it’s 11%abv, I don’t hint the insinuation of such in the aroma. The same applies to the taste. All roasted chocolate on the tongue - absolutely delicious. Leaves a creamy, oily layer of smoothness on the palate with a taste that lingers until the next sip. Again, wow, what a stout. Haslinger (640), Syracuse, New York, USA Jun 18, 2008 22 ounce bottle. Pours black with a dark brown head. The aroma is malt with a strong alcohol finish, The taste is malt, chocolate and coffee. There is also some molasses and the oat taste is definitely there. There is surprisingly little alcohol taste for how much there was in the smell. Very good beer would buy again
