Pours a deep black with a nice looking caramel brown head. Aroma of molasses, chocolate malts, vanilla and coffee. Flavor is chocolate malts, coffee, dark fruits. Nice thick oily mouthfeel on this one. Has a sweet yet bitter chocolate finish. Good stuff! axilla (962), New Providence, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 15, 2008 Pours opaque black with a small but well retained beige head. The aroma is roastes malts, dry oats, and a little chocolate liquor. The flavor starts with some sweet milk chocolate notes followed quickly with a dry, plain oatmeal taste that ends with a little brown sugar, mild vanilla extract, and semi-sweet coffee. A little alcohol present but not overly boozy. Quite enjoyable. jredmond (1015), New Jersey, USA Jun 10, 2008 Updated: Sep 13, 2009650mL bottle. Damn son. Pours a pitch brownish/black body with dark brown head. The aroma is molasses, chocolate, and roasty malts. The flavor is roasty, chocolate malts. Some alcohol in the finish. Brewer101 (162), New Jersey, USA Jun 9, 2008 this is a nice stout. The pour was a standard dark pour of stouts. Brown thick head. The aroma was full of choc and molasis. The flavor was filled with roasted chocolate. There are malts and dark fruit. Really nice stout. Imperial-John (154), Mississauga, Ontario, Canada Jun 9, 2008 Black with dark espresso head that thins to nothing. Deep alco, choco espresso aroma. Wonderful thick taste of bittersweet mocha espresso khalua milkshake. Sweetness makes it closer to a liquor than a stout. So tasty you forget the alcohol until you finish your sip and it warms you up. Leaves a sweet aftertaste that longs for next taste. Soonah (900), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Jun 9, 2008 From Puddintane via trade. Thank you! The pour was a nearly viscous, ultra dark glob. A nicely formed tan and brown head popped up and then retreated into a galaxy swirl. Tiny spots of lacing. The aroma was chocolate, cherry, roasted malt and some grassy, sweetness that I also smelled in their Hoppe. I found it distracting in that beer and in this one as well. The flavor was chocolate, roasted malt, bitter coffee, dark fruit and grass. The mouthfeel was full and the finish was problem free. GAManiac (1123), Atlanta, Georgia, USA May 28, 2008 Pours pitch black with a dense one inch mocha head that dissipates quickly leaving a little bit of lacing. The first thing I noticed in the smell was the surprisingly evident alcohol notes, very boozy aroma. There is also strong dark fruit (raisins mainly), chocolate and oat scents as well. Decadent taste full of dark chocolate, dark fruit and roasted malts. The alcohol makes itself known in the taste as well with slight bitterness of roasted coffee and oatmeal in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is heavy, oily and thick. It just coats your mouth with the chocolate malts and leaves an alcohol burn for good measure. This is a huge stout that I would definitely categorize as a sipper or a dessert beer. It’s a good but not great stout in my book. Vac (2389), San Diego, California, USA May 22, 2008 Thanks for sharing this bottle Alex (sick boy282). Pours with a black body topped by a thin, tan head with some lacing. It’s sweet and malty with a creamy note, some bitter hops and a touch of vanilla. Full bodied, smooth and creamy.
