Commercial Description:
“brewed for the harvest” This beer begins in spring when oat seeds are sown as soon as the soil can be worked. Meanwhile, select types of barley are planted with hopes that Mother Nature will be kind. Our brewers wait patiently until the legumes are mature and ready for the scythe. Upon delivery to the brewery, these ingredients are mixed together in the mash tun where they steep, creating a rich molasses-like liquid. Spicy hops are boiled with the thick brew, giving balance and complexity. Brewers yeast feasts upon the rich sugars, concluding its transformation into oatmeal stout. Pour Oat into a snifter, allow its thick tan head to slowly rise, releasing unbridled aromas. The color of Oat is as dark as a moonless night. The first sip reveals Oat’s thick and nourishing taste. Like a haversack to a horse, a bottle of this stout is a meal in itself. Enjoy responsibly. 11.0% abv • 238º L

Fading dark tan head over the deepest brown body. Aie! How can people dig this stuff so much? It smells like malt syrup and molasses and dominatingly so. Immensely sugary from start to finish. Chocolate, marshmallows and all those candies you loved when you were young and try to avoid to keep a guiltless conscience nowadays? Well this beer is liquid candy stock and I’m sorry, but it quickly becomes a burden to keep drinking. Pure syrup mouthfeel, oily sensation never kept at bay by the incompetent (or absent) carbonation. I’m impressed on how low-profile the hops are. Did they judge them unnecessary or are they just hidden beneath the black hole? It matters not since the heavy roast of bitter chocolate nature kicks off the sweets with hard burnt flavours and sets the table for a very dry and bordering chalky finish. You really, really must be in the mood to appreciate its syrupy lack of subtlety and as far as I’m concerned, I simply don’t get such moods anymore.

From bottle, blind tasting at Papsoes - beer no 7. Pours dark brown to black with a diminished light brown head. Breadish and roasted dark malty aroma, has a dried fruit note too. Chocolate flavoured with a distinct liqourice in the finish. Gives a smooth chocolate flavour along the way and slowly leading into a nice finish with a distinct liqourice note.

Bottles thanks to Beastiefan2k and WeeheavySD: Pours black with 1 finger tan head. Aroma of toasty oats and light chocolate. Flavor is malty and oaty whatever that is, notes of chocolate and a hint of coffee. Very light bitterness, the emphasis is on the oats and the malt. Alcohol is completely hidden in the flavor but you feel it afterwards! Body is super creamy in milky. The best Oatmeal Stout i have had yet!

mesa gathering. thanks footy! viscous pour is nearly black with mahogany edges and a tiny tan head. wet musty horse feed aroma (that’d be the oats), chocolate, heavily roasted malts and stinging alcohol. flavor is surely oaty, molasses, brown sugar, dark dried fruits and some chocolate. it leaves an ashiness on the back of my throat in the finish. super rich creamy oat texture. full bodied and cloyingly sweet. a headache in a bottle!!!

22 oz bottle-pours a thick black sludge, then with pouring straight in , finally a thin brown head. Aroma is dark malt-molasses, dark fruit. Taste is very sweet dark malt-molasses/licorice, dark fruit, oatmeal, some acidity (from hops). A dessert beer for sipping. Good for style. Occasional. Full body, syrupy. Thanks jwc215 for sharing.

22 oz. bottle courtesy my brother. Magnificent creamy brown head slowly builds from a blacker than black pour. Sheets of creamy lace add to the picture. Fresh roasted coffee, dark chocolate, licorice, vanilla, and some pepper combine for an intoxicationg aroma. Full body, light carbonation, smooth, rich, creamy mouthfeel, and a palate coating quality all come together perfectly. Balanced flavor with a treacle sweetness and just enough bitterness to dry out the finish without even a hint of harshness. What a phenomenal offering from a brewer that is largely unrecognized, and perhaps under appreciated.
