COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
“brewed for the harvest” This beer begins in spring when oat seeds are sown as soon as the soil can be worked. Meanwhile, select types of barley are planted with hopes that Mother Nature will be kind. Our brewers wait patiently until the legumes are mature and ready for the scythe. Upon delivery to the brewery, these ingredients are mixed together in the mash tun where they steep, creating a rich molasses-like liquid. Spicy hops are boiled with the thick brew, giving balance and complexity. Brewers yeast feasts upon the rich sugars, concluding its transformation into oatmeal stout. Pour Oat into a snifter, allow its thick tan head to slowly rise, releasing unbridled aromas. The color of Oat is as dark as a moonless night. The first sip reveals Oat’s thick and nourishing taste. Like a haversack to a horse, a bottle of this stout is a meal in itself. Enjoy responsibly. 11.0% abv • 238º L

650ml bottle from Bierkompass

Pours pitch black with a medium creamy head. Strong aroma of oat, roasted malts and notes of vanilla, alcohol and chocolate. Taste is quite strong with oat and slightly roasted malts. Notes of salty liqourice, coffee, chocolate and vanilla. Long lasting and warming finish. Full bodied and medium carbonated. Well balanced and tasty breakfast stout

650 ml bottle.
Pours a pitch black colour with a small beige head on the edges. Aroma of salty licorice, roasted malts and oat. Flavour of salty licorice, roasted malts, oat, some oak and dark chocolate. Full bodied with a smooth mouthfeel and a rich, quite complex finish of roasted malts and licorice. Awesome.

22 oz. bottle from Binny’s. Weird, because I see this beer around all the time. I’ve probably seen it hundreds of times since I started rating here but now I’m finally trying it. Pouts black with a medium tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roast, oats, mild sweet cream. There are some notes of vanilla and grain. Flavor is strongly chocolate and roast, with a mild oatmeal and cereal undertones. Very dry for a southern tier beer, which is appreciated by me. Full bodied, moderate carbonation for the style. Very good beer.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours a very dark brown/black with a small tan head. Head quickly fades into a couple of oily looking brown bubbles. Rather sweet nose to it. Vanilla, molasses and port coming through. Has an underlying sweet bitterness throughout. Brown sugar, raisins, burnt oats. Big and fairly intense brew. Nice

22 ounce bomber. Pours a beautiful pitch black with a thin beige head. Aromas of brown sugar, chocolate, prunes and rum. Very thick and sweet with a bitter chocolate finish; finishes a little hot. This is good, but just a bit too sweet and a little too boozy.

Pours a black absence of light. Big, creamy off-white creamy head with plenty of lacing. Smells of a dry artificial sweetener. Tastes sweet and somewhat of an oatmealness. Velvet feel and sweet. No bitterness, no off flavors. Just a big fake taste. I don’t sense any oats other than the velvety smooth feel. Very good, despite the overly fake taste that is has. I can’t describe it beyond it having a lot of artificial flavorings seemingly added to it. Just like the other beers from them. Minus the pumpkin offering.

Smells rich and chocolatey., also getting some notes of grain and oatmeal. Smells like cereal. Tastes like grain...literally. Awesome body and mouthfeel, rich and chewy. Low carbonation. What I want in an imperial stout...southern tier again follows up on the name of their beer. Tastes like oat cereal. Grainy but with everything I like about imperial stouts.
