Commercial Description:
“brewed for the harvest” This beer begins in spring when oat seeds are sown as soon as the soil can be worked. Meanwhile, select types of barley are planted with hopes that Mother Nature will be kind. Our brewers wait patiently until the legumes are mature and ready for the scythe. Upon delivery to the brewery, these ingredients are mixed together in the mash tun where they steep, creating a rich molasses-like liquid. Spicy hops are boiled with the thick brew, giving balance and complexity. Brewers yeast feasts upon the rich sugars, concluding its transformation into oatmeal stout. Pour Oat into a snifter, allow its thick tan head to slowly rise, releasing unbridled aromas. The color of Oat is as dark as a moonless night. The first sip reveals Oat’s thick and nourishing taste. Like a haversack to a horse, a bottle of this stout is a meal in itself. Enjoy responsibly. 11.0% abv • 238º L

22 oz bomber courtesy of Maniac. Dark mahogany brown almost opague with small head. Aromas of roasted malt and some raisin. Raisins, plums, and roast malt flavors backed with assertive hopping to ballance. Creamy full moderatly carbonated mouthfeel with some alchohol warming. Some coffee and lots of roasty malts in the finish. Super oatmeal stout.

THOUGHTS: Powerful and flavorful, but way easier to drink than their Creme Brulee. Hid alcohol fairly well for something this strong. Nice, but nothing special. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a dark brown that was black in the glass with slight orange highlights in the light and a small, tan head that left fair lacing. The aroma was roasted malt, milk and dark chocolate, oat, chocolate syrup, moderate pine hops, and a little alcohol. The flavor stared very sweet and a little bitter and finished fairly bitter with a little sweetness with a long duration. There was roasted malt, chocolate, oat, dark fruit, chocolate syrup, pine hops and a little alcohol. The medium to full body was oily, but also sticky on the lips with tingly carbonation and alight to moderate alcoholic finish.

First impression is that this is kinda fruity and not overly stout-like. Aroma is fruity and higher alcohol. Dull dark malt. Not overwhelming, but nice. Decent legs almost no head retention. Flavor is sweet thick chocolate but fruit totally dominates. Touch of bitter roast, but so subdued because of the left over gravity that it is almost annoying and frustrating. The palate is fizzy and chocolate with a lot of cream. Dense.

22oz bottle. Pours an opaque black body with a finger-width, brown, creamy head that dissipates slowly and remains pretty lacy. Aroma is a strong sweetness. Good amount of caramel maltiness to it along with a boozy backing. Lots of raisons, some molasses, and a bunch of smooth, oaty chocolate. Some light notes of roasted malts and bittering hops as well. Definitely more of a sweet smelling stout. Flavor is also pretty sweet, but has a moderate amount of hard roasts to it. Lots more of the dark fruit and raison, some dark chocolate, and a more distinct licorice in the flavor as well. A very mild bitterness comes through to balance the initial sweet, chocolate oatmeal and extends throughout and after the sip. Finishes dry and cloying after an enormously chewy malt and velvety smooth body. I love the feel that the oats give this. Leaves a really nice lingering taste. Its like an alcohol/roast mix, but not too much of each. Its almost like sucking on a roasted grain after its been soaked in booze. Warming on the way down too. Overall, a fantastic imp stout. Great from beginning to end. If the aroma was a little more abundant, this would be tough to beat when it comes to oatmeal stouts.

Bomber - One of the best Imperial Stouts I have had to date. Pours a thick, murky, midnight black with a fluffy, lasting brown head. This beer is huge on both aroma and flavor. It is very sweet with a huge chocolatey malty flavor. As it warms the alcohol makes more of an appearance. The mouthfeel is thick and rich with almost an oily consistancy. Simply excellent.

Dark black with a nice dark tan head. Lots of chocolate and roast in the aroma. Lots of dark malt with some roast, chocolate, molasses. Really nice palate, a bit thick but very silky. Strong finish that lingers a bit of chocolate on the tongue.
