radiomgb (1710), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Jan 28, 2008 Black in colour, rich lingering tan coloured head, light lacing. The aroma is alcoholic, quite sweet, some liquorice, lots of piney hops, vinous, dark chocolate. The flavour is very oaty, lots of alcohol, some chocolate, very rich and somewhat smooth, some espresso, very sweet. Thick and rich mouthfeel, large body, medium carbonation. Finishes very long, with a large alcohol warmth. This is a big stout, very in your face. Drinking this makes me want Jah-va even more.

Hoptagon (49), Arlington, Virginia, USA Jul 11, 2008 22oz. Bottle. Inky black with almost no head in my snifter. Aroma shows chocolate, fresh oatmeal and a touch of alcohol. Flavor is rich with a bit of roasted character and heavy doses of malty sweetness. Mouthfeel is thick with a viscous molasses like vibe. The oats lend a creaminess to the beer that is uncommon in a beer with an 11% alcohol content. This beer finishes well with a surprising creamy complexity and a hint of roasted bitterness. Sparky27 (413), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Jul 10, 2008 Bomber courtesy of Bockyhorsey. Pours a midnight black with 2 finger mocha head. Nose is rich chocolate, roasted malt and alcohol. Taste is chocolate, smoked malts, dark fruit and salty licorice with a slight bitter metallic like finish. Creamy, grainy mouth feel. Good stuff – thanks Bill! MrChopin (111), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 8, 2008 Pours chocolate brown with a small tan head. Scent is strong chocolate with hints of licorice and booze. Tastes like a melted chocolate bar with a little alcohol. Salty, sticky, and thick. Not the best IS I’ve had. shintriad (654), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 7, 2008 Whoa! If this beer were a woman, I’d rate her as one fine raven-hair’d beauty. This is one hell of a stout. Thick, syrupy, sweet, delicious, maybe one-dimensional but it’s a great dimension they’re occupying. Very dark, caramelly, roasted with a hearty oatmeal flavour. I loved this. mcox90 (302), Wilton, New Hampshire, USA Jul 7, 2008 22 oz. bottle courtesy of Goldtwins. Poured a jet black with a creamy brown head. Aroma reminded me of fresh baked oatmeal bread like Mom used to make, assuming of coarse, Mom put alcohol in her oatmeal bread. Smooth & creamy palate. A little on the heavy side. A delight to sip and then roll around in your mouth. Flavor was oatmeal & chocolate with an alcohol background. Delicious brew!.
