Tastes of light caramel malts, citrus tones, medicinal tones, very light hops.
Medium bodied with soft carbonation leading to a bitter finish.
On the dull side.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 tmoreau (1673) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - MAY 30, 2013
12 oz. bottle poured to a Czech-pils glass, showing a clear, orangy amber, with fairly persistent, light tan, froth & bubbles head foam, and waves & spots of lacing. The nose was some graininess, light brown sugar sweetness, caramel, fruity esters, citrus, and some resin. An astringent, rind-like, earthy, parched, very lingering and somewhat harsh hop bitterness took over the flavor, where the malt, and even the alcohol took a back seat. Medium+ bodied, warming, but unbalanced, and difficult to finish. Didn’t seem to age well from 10/30/12.

The color of this beer a slight reddish brown with a minimal off-white head that disappears quickly, and the aroma is yeasty and has a touch of nutmeg. The taste is quite sour, a touch bitter, and slightly umami but is nothing too special; also, the palate has a medium body, a soft carbonation, long finish, and a oily texture.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 maekchu (1126) - Hirakata, JAPAN - MAR 14, 2013
Bottle from Village Wine and Spirits in Athens. Mild piney hop nose. Bright reddish-brown color. Hop-heavy initial / mid palate goes to an unusual twisting back and forth between the hops and the malt; sort of a balancing act? / hops remain on the tongue for a bit. Medium body. Very nice stuff. But pretty damn hoppy for a winter ale.
