COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
With the onset of winter, the brewer’s mind turns to providing warmth. For our winter seasonal, Southern Tier offers Old Man Winter Ale, a rich and complex amalgam of hops and barley that will put the feeling back in your toes and lift your spirits above the snow. Old Man Winter throws a deep and inviting hue with a thickness that clings to the glass and the warmth of an open flame. Because of its high alcohol content, Old Man Winter is a heady brew that encourages sipping and pondering its essential richness. Drink it fresh now, or cellar some bottles to see how this old man becomes wiser with age.

Thought this one was a little watery, yet balanced. Not too many notes on this one, only ratings. OK.

Very nice hop aroma and dark Amber appearance. Pick up more malts and hops on the first taste. Some spice on the back end, very nice.

Hazy bronze. Very hoppy, some bockish characteristics. Decent but doesn’t break any ground.

Harsh, hoppy and not much else. The least good of all Southern Tier beverages I’ve tried.

Bottle. Pours dark amber with small off-white creamy head, roasted malt aroma, a bit burnt like roasted malt taste, thin body, longish finish. Not a great brew.

Pours a caramel color with a white foam head. Aroma is a touch of spruce and caramel. Flavor is burnt caramel with a little bitterness. A pretty solid, straightforward beer.

Bottle to shaker glass. Pours deep amber, two finger quick white head, suspended particles, light lacing and retention. Aroma of roasted malts and herbs. Taste is nicely balanced both medium sweet and bitter. Medium body, light carbonation, bready mouth feel. Finishes long and malty but bitters at the end. Notes of toffee, hazel nuts, pepper and pine. This beer surprised me! Good ale!

* Old rating, many thanks to kiwianer for sharing. Malzig-intensives Bier. feinherb, leicht klebrig-dickflüssig. Lecker!

Translucent, middle depth amber, very fine bubbles, tall persistent head. Slightly piercing nose, somewhat ammoniacal. Middle body, silky texture, nice warmth, carbonation not as high as visible bubbles would suggest, moderate flavor, fairly long. Moderately bitter, dry, just enough acidity. Malty, light spices, hoppy. Pleasant, not memorable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Copper. Dark malts, biscuit and toast with caramel, some nice hoppy bitterness. Good stuff all around. Southern Tier doesn't disappoint. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
