RiverHorse (454), New Jersey, USA May 13, 2007 Part of a Mix Pack with ST IPA and ST Tripel. Pours a golden color with a small off-white head. The nose was dominated by hops, lemon zest and a some malt. The taste was a little thin for me. There wasn’t any bite or aftertaste to speak of and the beer was quite forgetable. Not a great ale. Glouglouburp (2782), Montreal, Quebec, Canada May 3, 2007 Updated: May 4, 2007Cloudy dirty orange body with almost not head. Light body, almost watery. Proto-typical citrus hop juice in a body lacking malts. Soft caramel, some plain cookies, pineapples, and a spicy touch (white pepper). Light bitterness with a light acidity in the finish. Soft carbo, too soft. I just recently bought the bottle from a busy beer store but the body feels tired like an old beer past due-date beer. Lacks livelyhood. Phin & Matts Ordinary Ale. beerbill (1919), Laurel, New York, USA May 3, 2007 12 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy gold with a moderate white head that lasted slightly less than halfway through the glass. Light but pleasant aroma of caramel, sweet citrus and a bit of pine. These same qualities are in the flavor too, just a bit more pronounced. Light bitterness at the finish. I don’t know that I would call it extraordinary, bit this is certainly a very solid beer. cheapdark (2011), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA May 2, 2007 On tap at the Mad Mex in Robinson. The pour is a ubiquitous pale yellow american beer color. The aroma is a little sour and vinegary, but not much. Taste is somewhat like a mild IPA. Seems to have a little bit of alky bite during the session, more than the 5% listed here. Mild carbonation that at least lets you know it is a beer but almost flat. The finish is mildly hoppy and malty at the same time and is of medium length. Not too much lasting bitterness. About the same as any other pale ale I’ve had such as Sly Fox Phoenix Pale Ale, Hereford & Hops Allegheny Pale Ale, Flying Dog Doggie Style Classic Pale Ale or JW Dundees American Pale Ale . Not quite as good as Erie’s Hard Cock Ale, but I think Hard Cock may be categorized in the wrong style on this site. (Rating #996) BuffaloBrewed (42), Buffalo, New York, USA Apr 22, 2007 12oz. bottle from Premier Gourmet. Poured a light and clear golden color with a small white head. The nose was very heavy with citrus and had an over all "fresh" smell. Being warm outside (for Buffalo) the ale was very refreshing and light, but it still had a good amount of body and some pretty good fruit notes as well. BBB63 (4199), La Porte, Indiana, USA Apr 21, 2007 Bottle conditioned and provided by Ty, thanks: A hazy golden hue greets the drinker topped by a huge fluffy white head and above average lacing is left upon the pint glass. The aroma has notes of grapefruit, pine and grassy hops, biscuity malts and a hint of mineral water. The taste starts mildly bitter and citric with a layer of pale malt sweetness in support. The finish is mostly clean with some of the same mineral water found upon the nose. The mouth feel is sprite and chalky with a dry astringent finish. A solid brew for the genre. estoppel (1028), Buffalo, New York, USA Apr 20, 2007 Amber body, white head, sweet but citric nose. Nicely balanced sweet malts and American hops, good stuff.
