COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Plums are a diverse group of species, with somewhere between 19 & 40 varieties depending upon whom you ask. We’re using what we consider to be the best to brew with. the Italian plum has beautiful dark skin & the flesh is perfect for fermentation. Plum Noir’s mild sweetness is derived no necessarily from the many malts we use. A bit of plum flavor is present as well as earthy, toasted grains, & hints of caramel with mild coffee overtones.

Bomber shared. Dark pour, minimal head. Dark plum aroma. Taste is more bitter chocolate than anything. Not balanced at all. This was a miss for me.

Pours a dark mahogany brown with small tan fluffy head. Aromas of dark fruit, malts, and some chocolate. Flavors of dark malts a touch of chocolate. Don’t get much plum...

On tap at Hopjacks. Pours a cloudy brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is dark fruit, plum, chocolate, grain. Thin mouth, strong caramel, plum skin, toasted malt, hides alcohol well, very good.

Bottled 05.02.13. Poured from a bomber into a chalice on 02.20.15. A: Cocoa, powdery chalk, and prunes. A: 1 finger light tan head that recedes to spots of fluff. T: Woodiness and dark berry dominate. P: Very thin and watery even for a porter. O: This was underwhelming. There was no flavor here. Maybe it was too old, but it should have held up at 8.0% ABV. It wasn’t undrinkable, but it wasn’t worth drinking.

Pour on tap at All Pints North, dark reddish brown pour with white head, aroma brought notes of big dark fruit, toffee, caramel into a bit of yeast, touch of coffee into a bit of earth, spice. Taste was a mix of spice, earth, big dark fruit, toffee into some coffee, cocoa, slight yeast, finishing fairly sweet, slightly dry.

My notes show it is lighter than expected but I enjoyed the flavors. Good color and had in the bottle

Poured into a snifter. 3.0 A: Black color. One and a half fingers of frothy light brown head. Retention is a tad below average and no lacing is left. 4.25 S: This smells pretty damn great. The plums work so well in this. Soft, but potent roastiness. Chocolate up front with caramel undertones. Plum fruitiness foremost then black currant and grape. It’s not overly complex, but what is there fits together so well. 3.75 T: Taste is very good, but it can’t compete with the beauty that is the nose. Same flavors overall. Supple roastiness, chocolate and caramel, plum, currant, grape, and a peppery spiciness. 3.25 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. This is missing creaminess. With it, this would fit just perfectly. 3.5 D: Tasty brew with a great nose. Pick this up if you find it. DavoleBomb, Jun 04, 2013
