Plums are a diverse group of species, with somewhere between 19 & 40 varieties depending upon whom you ask. We’re using what we consider to be the best to brew with. the Italian plum has beautiful dark skin & the flesh is perfect for fermentation. Plum Noir’s mild sweetness is derived no necessarily from the many malts we use. A bit of plum flavor is present as well as earthy, toasted grains, & hints of caramel with mild coffee overtones.

29/IX/13 - 1Pt. 6Fl. Oz. bottle @ American BBQ and beertasting, my place - BB: n/a (2013-912) Thanks to my mate Abu Nasim in NYC for the trade and to Hilde for transport!

Clear dark brown beer, big creamy irregular beige head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: bit metallic, brown sugar, mocha, dried fruits, plum jam. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: little bitter, grapeskin, mocha, some coffee, overripe fruits, bitter hops. Aftertaste mocha, bitter, dried fruits, red to black forest fruit, jam, chocolate, hoppy, more overripe fruits. Not bad, but not one to remember.

Black pour with a tan head. The aroma and flavor have some nice caramel and roasted malt notes as well as a good deal of sweet plum and other dark fruit. Medium to thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Nice.

Draft at Khyber Pass. Pitch back pour that showed as a clear red under bright light. Thin tan head leaves some delicate lace. Nice strong dark malt flavors. Rich plum notes. Good spicy pepper finish. Another great offering from Southern Tier.

Bottle. Opaque black pour with thin off white head. Aroma is fruity, light roasty notes, dark fruits. Taste is sweet, fruity, not unlike an abbey dubbel kinda dark fruit sweet malty beer, very light roastiness. Palate is smooth, med-full body with med carbonation. Decent, a tad forgettable.

Here is an imperial porter brewed with plums. The aroma is malty and yeasty, with a dash of tart plums. The flavor: sweet coffee, malt, and a warm tingle on the back end. There is a little compote and caramel too, and it is easy on the hops. A good brew.

Bottled 02MAY13 Pours a dark brown with a fine tan sheet over the top. Smells of plum, quick chocolate cocoa powder, some soil, some black olive. Flavor is fruity with a dimatap character. Some dust, some cocoa, some bitterness and a mint in the background. Not really impressive. Medium bodied with a silky feel and a nice off dry finish - feel of this beer is really good. Overall, nothing special.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a clear deep reddish-brown with a moderate beige head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left partial lace. Pleasant aroma of sweet malt and plums along with a few notes of roast. The flavor is similar to the aroma with sweet malt and plums along with a bit of roasted malt. Mild bitterness at the finish. Medium bodied. Solid.

Bottle acquired via unsolicited box from hopscotch...thanks again Eric! Dark mahogany pour with garnet, crimson, and scarlet edges and a small eggshell head. Cocoa, vanilla, caramel, dark fruit, and roasted coffee beans. The plum is there but isn’t necessarily the most aggressive quality. Instead, it melds well with the other flavors...subtle and refined. Pretty solid beer but not something to go out of your way for.
