Pours a dark, bourbon brown color with a rich, taupe-tan head. Dark roast malt, sorghum, and chocolate nose. Full-bodied, with some light burn on the tongue’s surface. Finishes with some mild astringency. Mild olive, chocolate, coffee, and some faintly tart fruit.

22oz bottle in a plastic cup. Pours very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, light chocolate and coffee, some dark fruits, and some dough. Flavor sort of light on everything. Average to smooth texture. A pretty good beer, but could be more flavorful.

The aroma seemed really faint. Could not pick out any real scents. Head quickly dissipates. Leaves a lasting tan lacing. Pours dark. There is a slight sweetness. Not overwhelmingly fruity. It does have some slight coffee bitterness but not overpowering at all. Does not taste like an imperial porter to me. The suggested cheese pairing was a miss. This might go good with some dark chocolate.
Very tasty beer. Probably will not get again, but I am glad I tried it. Not overbearing in anything but nicely balanced

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 2/4/14
Aroma: The nose is dark fruit/plum and plenty of roasted malts, with burnt/coffee notes
Appearance: Pours a dark brown color with a small, lasting, off-white head and heavy, spotted lace
Flavor: The taste is a little sweet, but more on the roasty side, with a burnt/bitter finish
Palate: The body is fairly full, it has a bit of heat, a sticky feel, and a lengthy, dry finish
This is a pretty tasty beer. It feels all of its 8%, and I probably would have guessed higher, it is definitely a sipper. Overall though, this combination of flavors works pretty nicely.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JAN 22, 2014 Here’s a beer with what should be conflicting flavors but pairs up nicely. Dark mahogany with a thick tan foam. Red fruit, chocolate in the aroma; the body livens up from the counterbalanced roasted malts and plum fruitiness. Finish leans to the sweet side finishing in dark chocolate.

Big malty aroma - with dark fruit, leather, chewing tobacco. Very dark, somewhat light, filmy head. Decent faux painted label on a 22-oz bomber. Smooth, tangy, toasty/roasty, sweet, a jousting bitterness which is a combination of the roast, alcohol and hops. Sweet caramel going into the finish, a light coffee astringency towards the end as well. A buffered, chewy mouthfeel but with decent carbonation. Finishes out with light acidity and a pleasant bitterness, but there’s a sugary element in there too. A tad metallic on the lips. A nice warmer on a cold night. Publix, Bradfordville. Go Noles, beat Auburn!
