Commercial Description:
Porter is our darkest beer, but not necessarily our strongest. It is widely held that the darker the beer the stronger the beer, but this is summarily false. The contribution of color comes directly from the color of malt that we use. Some malt is roasted to achieve dark color and coffee-like flavor, which in turn get transferred to the beer. Our Porter is richly complex with overtones of chocolate and espresso beans followed by a subtle flavor of hops. It’s a nourishing beer without being too sweet or filling.

Dark brown, creamy beige head that is gone quickly. Nose of cocoa, milk, a nut mix, sand, and faint roasted malt. More roast and nut in the flavor, some chocolate, a little watery and with a short, weak finish. Decent but not impressive.

bottle at Ft Wayne tasting - Pours dark brown though not as dark as most porters and has a thin, off white head. The aroma is roast malt and coffee. The roast malt and coffee flavor is alright, but this is a thin brew for a porter. Decent hops balance. They really need to amp this one up though.

Bottle@Home. Light malty, hint of chocolate and dusty aroma. Dark brown colour, beige head, good lace. Light sweet, light bitter, dusty, chocolate, light malty. Medium body. Strange dusty flavours that I disliked a lot.

Dark mahogany with good, foamy tan head / Roast barley and chocolate nose / Light to medium body, watery and a touch fizzy, with weak finish / Relatively simple flavors of bittersweet chocolate and roast coffee / Another mediocre effort from ST.

bottle. Small fizzy off-white head that mostly diminished. Spare displaye of lacework. Clear mahogany color. Roasted malt, light coffee, chocolate. Quite full and tasty tones of roasted malt over the palate. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Moderated sweet and bitter flavor. Nice roasted malty finish.

Bottled. Aroma has roast, coffee, chocolate with a touch of sourness. Black coloured beer with an off-white, medium head. The beer is a bit thin with a bitter finish. Slight note of metal. Could use some more body.
