Commercial Description:
Porter is our darkest beer, but not necessarily our strongest. It is widely held that the darker the beer the stronger the beer, but this is summarily false. The contribution of color comes directly from the color of malt that we use. Some malt is roasted to achieve dark color and coffee-like flavor, which in turn get transferred to the beer. Our Porter is richly complex with overtones of chocolate and espresso beans followed by a subtle flavor of hops. It’s a nourishing beer without being too sweet or filling.

Bottle. Low but lasting creamy light brown body. Very dark red almost black body. Mild and relatively sweet coffee choccolate hops aroma. Relatively watery in fact. Mild sweet and carbonated roasted malt flavor with a bit of coffee to it as wee. Still the watery impression prevails. Short aftertaste. Not a porter in my impression. More like an English mild or a German schwarzbier. Of course the alcohol percentahge is diffferent, the flavor however is not. Sorry mates, I know yoy can do better than that.

35,5cl bottle @ HJHansen, Odense. Pours nearly black with a small creamy beige head. The beer was poured into Rogue pint glass. Nose is roasted malts. Quite a lot of chocolate other than that quite mild. Smooth and roasted bitter mouthfeel. Chocolate and some ashy notes. Very quaffable and pleasant session thing!

12 fl oz bottle, amazing that the label says dark beneath the word porter. Pours..dark, deep amber glare and a small chocolate brown head. Roasted malt, light breadish and vague chocolate note. Roasted malt and nicely hopy fruity flavoured. Distinct liqourice and mild chocolate presence. Ends smooth roasted and light fruity hops bittered. Ends medium dry.

Bottle at home. Pours a dark brown with a beige head. Smells of toasted malts with a hint of alcohol. Mellow sweetness with aromas of burnt and roasted malts. Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. Burnt finish. DNF.

bottle. This is indeed a pretty dark beer, it’s virtually black. What is more noteable is the gigantic, explosive tan head. I am afraid of infection after such an eruption so I cautiously smell the bottle and the gigantic mound of foam in my snifter. It doesn’t smell sour. I double check for some kind of date stamp on the bottle. None. So, here we go. The aroma is sharp and roasty with considerable nutty quality and hints of chocolate and butermilk. The palate is just medium. The flavor is very piercing, boderline metallic with more dark chocolate and coffee hints. I’m not sure what I think about this. It is much more acidic than I’d like a porter to be.

12 oz bottle. Poured dark cola like (but not even close to ST’s darkest) with bubbly tan head. Nose pleasant banana bready, malty and doughy. Very drinkable, somewhat light on the palate. A good very well rounded porter.
