| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 11, 2009 This is a gigantic beer. Pitch black with a gi-normous head of solid tan foam. The aroma is sweet chocolate, but subtle. This drinks with a thick chocolate-milky goodness, exceptionally well balanced between a robustly flavored brew and an easily quaffable brew ... this is all good! (#3477, 11/2008)

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 9, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Nice smell of chocolate-roasted malts from the start. Pours black with bubbles on the side and a very thin head, but less fizzy than a cola. Taste has some assertiveness for a porter, with bitter coffee roast notes and more than a bit of hops in it. Dry finish. Just a little lacking in complexity. Well carbonated despite its appearance. Some coffee aftertaste. Not quite a session beer, but a meaty filler-upper for the thirsty. decaturstevo (1980), decatur, Tennessee, USA
