Aroma of light coffee and a bit of chocolate. Flavor matches, with the pleasant addition of faintly piney and floral hops on the finish. Nice. dkachur (2352), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 20, 2008 Bottle. Pours a deep reddish-black, with a moderate tan head. Strong aroma of coffee and sweet malts. The flavor is similar, with most of the bitterness coming from coffee, rather than hops. Nothing too remarkable, but a fine porter nonetheless. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Sep 13, 2008 12oz. A lovely pour of dark brown with a coffee-like head. Aroma is easily the best part, with roasted goodness of coffee, chocolate, nothing too unseen. I can’t say the flavors were inspiring, had good roasted notes but it stopped there and was not balanced with any hops or lighter notes. Mouthfeel was OK, somewhat soft and grainy, made me think I had a mouthful of sawdust. Pretty rough around the edges altogether. robinvboyer (1428), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada
