Commercial Description:
Porter is our darkest beer, but not necessarily our strongest. It is widely held that the darker the beer the stronger the beer, but this is summarily false. The contribution of color comes directly from the color of malt that we use. Some malt is roasted to achieve dark color and coffee-like flavor, which in turn get transferred to the beer. Our Porter is richly complex with overtones of chocolate and espresso beans followed by a subtle flavor of hops. It’s a nourishing beer without being too sweet or filling.

Bottle. Pours black with a smallish tan colored head. Aroma is chcolate, coffee, toffee. Flavor is chocolate, coffee, toffee. Palate is medium bodied, mildly carbonated, finished roasty and bitter. Rock solid.

This color throws me. I think they have to put "dark" on the bottle to reinforce the fact that this is a "dark" beer. Light mahogany, wisps of a tan, cola head. Aroma is cocoa and red fruit, with some sugar and caramel in there. Taste is rich cocoa, touches of smoke, light bitterness. Palate is touches of fizziness and dull cocoa that lingers for a good, long time. This thing is really drinkable with touches of bitterness. The only detractions I could see to this beer would be its fizziness, its slightly lighter color, and lack of head retention. However, this is a freaking solid beer.

12 oz. bottle courtesy jerc. Dark chocolate brown/ruby colour with a full diminishing creamy, fizzy, and frothy tan head. Dark chocolate, roasty but sweet cappuccino, fruity, and vinous aroma. Roasty, fruity, dark chocolate, and vinous flavours with a nutty, roasty, and lightly acidic finish. Medium to full bodied, soft, milky, and rich mouthfeel. A nicely done porter.

This is a light porter to me. Easy drinkin’ and mild. Has an odd doughy nose and gets slightly sweet at the finish.

Black color; huge head. A slightly coffeish Porter, midway between a Stout and a Porter, quite dry mouthfeel (also because of the evident overcarbonation), not bad mainly because of a good hopping.

Bottle courtesy of Jerc: Poured a clear black color ale with a medium foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of bitter roasted malt is somewhat average. Taste is also dominated by medium bitter notes from roasted malt with some light sweetness and some notes of black chocolate. Body is about average with some medium carbonation. Easily drinkable porter with some limited complexity.

coffee like aroma with a hint of hops near the end, a small bitterness that has some cooking chocalate mix, not an over-bearing porter
