Jine (889), Nutley, New Jersey, USA Jan 6, 2007 Nov. 10th ’06 Provided by biznizness on the camping weekend. Another fairly good brew from Southern Tier. Pretty much your standard definition of a porter with a few quirks and such. BuffaloBrewed (42), Buffalo, New York, USA Dec 22, 2006 12oz. bottle. Poured a dark chocolate brown with a thick light tan head. The beer had a fairly sweet smell with note of licorice and roasted malts. There seems to be some fruit to the nose as well. The taste is malty and slightly bitter, but balanced. Good brew. xproudfoot (729), Paleolithic, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 5, 2006 apple chocolate hoppy fresh smile inducing aroma. back with beige short songe head. strong bitter coffee, almost burnt. a little watery, rather so, thin and 1D. realale420 (399), west covina, California, USA Nov 27, 2006 12oz bottle poured a dark brown color with a nice tan head. Aromas of chocolate, roast, caramel and hops. The taste had a nice balance with a good bitterness. The finish was a touch sweet for me, but I like beers that are dry. Overall another good brew from ST, worth a try. ElBorracho (472), Chicago, Illinois, USA Nov 18, 2006 Bottle. Pours dark brown with amber highlights. Mild roasts in the aroma and taste with an underlying sweetness. Drinkable but nothing special. biznizness (930), Mooresville, North Carolina, USA Nov 15, 2006 Real nice, real nice. Pretty good porter. A little fizzy, but Southern Tier delivered on almost all of the beers I’ve tried. Worth a shot. holdenn (1432), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 30, 2006 Updated: Jan 12, 200710/30 12 oz bottle pours a dark black with a soapy tan head that quickly fades down. Pretty weak roasted chocolate aromas. Thin bodiy and thin flavors of chocolate toffee carmel coffee and roast. As these flavors quickly fade there’s a really nice creaminess that peaks and is actually the best part of the beer. This finishes bitter and dry which are also rather nice, too bad the aroma and flavor had to suffer so much to get there. ...... 1/11/07 rerate: I enjoyed this much more with a couple months on it. The flavor and aroma come out much more: simple chocolate, roast, a little sweet, nice amount of bitterness. Not great but a decent porter. Scubatrip (388), Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA Oct 21, 2006 On tap, pours black with a thick off-white head. Smells and tastes more like a pale ale than a porter. Very bitterly hoppy to the taste, though finishes with a bit of chocolate and a hint of coffee flavors. Not a big fan of this one.
