Commercial Description:
Porter is our darkest beer, but not necessarily our strongest. It is widely held that the darker the beer the stronger the beer, but this is summarily false. The contribution of color comes directly from the color of malt that we use. Some malt is roasted to achieve dark color and coffee-like flavor, which in turn get transferred to the beer. Our Porter is richly complex with overtones of chocolate and espresso beans followed by a subtle flavor of hops. It’s a nourishing beer without being too sweet or filling.

poured an opaque black-reddish hue with a froathy tan head. A rich malty aroma with coffee and chocolate notes. Taste was all malts a rich coffee taste with some chocolate notes, with some alcohol notes a bitter dry finish.

pours black that shows red when held aloft and a gray head that rings with islands of foam floating around. Not much from the nose, a little light roast and coffee. Sweet flavor that I really didn’t expect judging by the nose. It tastes like chocolate chips, toast, and coffee. A lingering roast coffee flavor. Some alcohol is noticeable too. Thin body to this. Not a bad brew. Ap-4 ar-6 tas-7 pal-3 ov-14

Very dark pour, rich creamy tan head. Nose was roasted coffee. Wow, mouth feel was much fuller then I anticipated from the pour. Well balanced carbonation, hop and malt profile. This is a most excellent Porter, and much appreciated, Thanks shadey!

12 oz bottle, via puzzl. An energetic poof emits when I crack the cap. The first pour yields 3/4 head and 1/4 beer. Dark mahogany body with a light brown head after several pours and many minutes. Milk chocolate, roast, licorice, and coffee on the nose, very dry. Flavor is a little thin, mostly coffee and black patent malt. Finish is dry, dusty, and overly astringent. The carbonation in this is so high that as soon as the beer reaches my tongue it turns into a mass of foam. When you wait it out you get a thinnish light bodied mouthfeel. I’m not really sure what to think of this one, the carbonation just completely distracts me. Maybe a bad bottle?

Black color with a no head. Some mild hop aroma. Oddly enough, the taste was about the same. No real malt body or any roasts of any kind. Just thick, dry hop juice.

Very solid porter with nice body and that it held up to me drinking at a time when I probably shouldn’t have (after MANY other beers) it is all the more impressive. Thanks again to Shadey

Courtesy of Shadey <P> Aroma is full of chocolate malt, cream and miniscule hints of vanilla. Deep black with a thumb thick tan head. Fore is roasty chocolate malts, cocoa, sweet cream, light coffee notes and a hint of nougat. Very nice mouthfeel that is perfectly to syle. A well done porter.

Pours a deep brown bordering in black with a med. off-white head. Aroma is of cocoa and piney hops. The body is med. but a little over-carbonated and thus feels thinner than it really is. The flavors are heavy with chocolate, but ther is some caramel. A dry bitter finish makes this pretty authentic. CO@ is the only thing I would really change and this has been in the bottle a while so I’m impressed.
