Commercial Description:
Porter is our darkest beer, but not necessarily our strongest. It is widely held that the darker the beer the stronger the beer, but this is summarily false. The contribution of color comes directly from the color of malt that we use. Some malt is roasted to achieve dark color and coffee-like flavor, which in turn get transferred to the beer. Our Porter is richly complex with overtones of chocolate and espresso beans followed by a subtle flavor of hops. It’s a nourishing beer without being too sweet or filling.

Pours near opaque brown with a fairly dark and dense tan cap. Smells merrily of malts both rich and bready-sour. Medium bodied and a little dry from the roast and hops. Plenty of layered flavors - roast grain, various fruit, coffee, some cola, light toffee, yeast, and some dry cocoa much later in the long dry finish. Also drinking it probably 15º C which is barely cooled down. Most worthy of fridge space.

Bottle: Pours dark, dark brown with ruby red tones and a tan head that disappeared quickly. Aroma is the usual suspects with toasty roasted malts, espresso, cocoa. Flavour is black licorice, burnt malts, espresso, and subtle bitter hops with a rather carbonated mouthfeel. Not bad but a reasonable standard porter.

Bottle. Pours a clear deep brown with a large gently tanned beige head. Light roast with a slight astringency to it and a bit of paper and a touch of chocolate. Thin, slightly burnt roast with a jalapeno note. Finishes up with more roast a little bitter chocolate, and still a bit thin.

Glad to see this one at the LCBO, pretty good, tasted like a lot of roasted malt, not too much complexity but really nice for the style. Nice.

35cl bottle. very dark amber, looks black until you shine light through it, larghe fluffy offwhite or light brown head. dry cofee and hoppy aroma, faint brown sugar, caramel, chocolate. roasted grains. aroma is rather mild. flavor is slighly sourish, roasted grains, licorice, ends dry and roasted. the sourness resembles raisins, perhaps more a dark fruits flavor than an actual sour flavor.

Shared by hallinghansen. Pours brown with a somewhat white! head, with looks very strange. It has a fainting aroma and flavour of roasted malt and liquorice but a pleasant liquorice after taste. Very easy to drink.

12oz bottle. Pours deep brown/near black with a half finger tan head. The nose is ashy malt and dark chocolate. The taste is chocolate, roasted malt, ashy cocoa and coffee. Medium, semi-creamy mouthfeel. Good Porter.

Bottle. Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma was roasty with chocolate and coffee. Flavor was roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee and has some nuttiness with a medium body and a dry and bitter finish.
