355ml bought at Barley Wine, Copenhagen. Rocky, fawn coloured head covering a deep, rosewood body. Smell of espresso-like malts and herbal dryness. Coffee, cocoa and chocolate flavour leads the way to hints of dry, herbal maltiness, ending with a touch of yeasty bitterness. Smooth in the mouth (Tromsø, 26.09.2009).

355 ml bottle from the lcbo. pours dark brown with a small tan head. faint aroma of dark malt and light hopping. the flavour really shines. roasted barley and coffee throughout, nice minty hopping. mid bodied but not lacking in flavour. the finish is long and this beer has some complexity. super sessionable and quite enjoyable start to finish. ill buy lots of this one.

355mL bottle from the LCBO. Pours a dark but clear brownish red, almost purple (I’m actually colour blind). Small tan head. The aroms is simple but pleasant roasted malts and some minor cocoa. Somewhat rich malty fullness. Flavour is a nice blend of of the same roasted malts and chocolate, minor astringent finish which compliments the typical Southern Tier tendency towards sweetness. Palate is lighter as one would expect from the style. This is a good standard porter but for us beer geeks who actually know what a porter is, it’s very introductory which I understand is the purpose. Simple and tasty.

355 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a dark brown (with a hint of ruby) with an average-sized tan head. Sweet, roasty malt nose with coffee and chocolate notes. Hint of fruit too. Flavour is very roasty with strong, dry coffee finish, bit of hoppy bitterness. Quite carbonated. Enjoyable.

355 mL bottle. Pours dark ruby-brown with a small but sticky beige head. Smells like a porter, with dominant roasted malt accompanied by a touch of chocolate and red wine. Flavour is similar, and is appealing without being outstanding in any way. A solid, if unspectacular porter.

Pours near opaque brown with a fairly dark and dense tan cap. Smells merrily of malts both rich and bready-sour. Medium bodied and a little dry from the roast and hops. Plenty of layered flavors - roast grain, various fruit, coffee, some cola, light toffee, yeast, and some dry cocoa much later in the long dry finish. Also drinking it probably 15º C which is barely cooled down. Most worthy of fridge space.

Bottle: Pours dark, dark brown with ruby red tones and a tan head that disappeared quickly. Aroma is the usual suspects with toasty roasted malts, espresso, cocoa. Flavour is black licorice, burnt malts, espresso, and subtle bitter hops with a rather carbonated mouthfeel. Not bad but a reasonable standard porter.

Bottle. Pours a clear deep brown with a large gently tanned beige head. Light roast with a slight astringency to it and a bit of paper and a touch of chocolate. Thin, slightly burnt roast with a jalapeno note. Finishes up with more roast a little bitter chocolate, and still a bit thin.
