Commercial Description:
Porter is our darkest beer, but not necessarily our strongest. It is widely held that the darker the beer the stronger the beer, but this is summarily false. The contribution of color comes directly from the color of malt that we use. Some malt is roasted to achieve dark color and coffee-like flavor, which in turn get transferred to the beer. Our Porter is richly complex with overtones of chocolate and espresso beans followed by a subtle flavor of hops. It’s a nourishing beer without being too sweet or filling.

A dark red/brown colored beer, with a thick foamy dark beige head. The aroma of sweet fruits like grapes and cherries. the taste is sweet moving over to dry bitter. Then fruits again with in the back coffee and chocolate. The aftertaste is fruity, dry and bitter.

Bottle: Poured a dark black color with a nice head. The aroma was roasted malts and dark chocolate. The taste was bitter, dark chocolate, touch of coffee, and roasted malts. Overall, a nice porter from Southern Tier.

Brown body white head. Decent aroma of toasted malts and chocolate. Flavor has some nice roasted malt notes with chocolate and coffee, maybe a bit of nuttiness. Palate is thick enough, but not syrupy. I liked this one, but it’s not particularly memorable.

12 oz bottle from Jeffy. Pours a rather unimpressive dark dirty brown body with a small whispy biege head. Aroma is roasty with slight coffee and chocolate. Flavor is very roasty overall with notes of coffee, nutts, brown toast and hops. Medium bodied and average carbonation that has a cramy mouthfeel. Very nice.

Clear dark red brown color with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to light light heavy malty, roasted, dusty, cask wood, moderate hoppy, perfume, soap, light notes of vanilla. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20090412]

Sweet dark roasty malt aroma with some hoppiness. Milk chocolate and grape jelly. Dark brown color with a brownish head. Flavors are lightly bitter and dry with a light crisp palate. Some chocolate, some cream, ice coffee, a little burnt toast, and some berries. Palate is light but duration lingers. A little thin but good overall. Easy to drink more than one.

Cocoa and brown sugar aroma. Dark brown, clear, thin tan head. Immensely chocolatey, but little else. There may also be a little woodiness, but definitely chocolate rules the day. The only transition to be found is merely from cocoa to dark chocolate. Thin mouthfeel. Tasty and unique, but painfully single minded.
