3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Kind of a one note beer, mostly espresso like burnt flavor. Not as sweet as I would have expected. Bitter burnt flavors with very little hop. Kind of thin mouth feel. Enjoyable but not anything memorable.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Flight #3 at the brewery with ebone1988. The pour is a darker brown with a lot of light ruby shining through. There is a thin ring of light khaki head and a lot of soapy lace. The aroma is very milky and sweet right up front. The maltiness and strong roast come in on the back end. Chocolate and bitter roast finish it out. It’s not terrible. The flavor is milky and sweet. There is a light roast and a lightly bitter finish. It’s watery and flavorless in the middle. The mouth feel is thin and watery with a lack carbonation and a dry thin finish. The aftertaste is thin and roasty with a sweet lactose there as well. This is not a great porter

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a dark brown from a bottle. Toasty, coffee and chocolate aroma and flavor. Rather sweet. I feel like a lot of porters have lots of effervescence in the mouth that reminds me of soda, not sure why, but this one has it too. Okay beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
DATE: March 29, 2016... OCCASION: watching Gone Girl with Shan on a Spring Break Tuesday... GLASSWARE: Kisatsky’s Tavern pint... APPEARANCE: midnight black, cola-clinging bubbles adorn the glass... off-white head forms at a staunch, quarter-inch... coral fingers stretch as the glass drains... AROMA: malty, chocolaty suggestions early, with toasted cereal grains... not much hops to speak of, but not the point of th porter... PALATE: creamy, with a coffeeish body that adds texture at the throat... lactic milk smoothness .pervades the experience...TASTE: peat, coffee, some vegetable, and lactic suggestions... a strong, smoky flavor lingers at its end... OVERALL: not as memorable as the majority of the Southern Tier offerings, but this is sufficient for what is needed from a porter...

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Deep brown appearance with an average size beige head and modest lacing. Aroma of roasted coffee, dark chocolate and caramel malts. Earthy, dusky, bitter flavor amid some smoke. Aftertaste is like a rich, chewy brownie. Medium bodied, decently carbonated mouthfeel; lingering finish.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Aroma is light, roasted malt, coffee, some chocolate. Appearance is dark brown, light tan head. Taste is super light, a light roasted malt, light chocolate, coffee, nothing. Mouthfeel is thin, light to medium body with light carbonation, aftertaste fades quickly. Overall, this is about par for a porter.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle into tulip glass, opaque dark brown color, some reddish hue, with tan head. Aroma notes of heavy roasted malt, light coffee and chocolate and a tad smoke. Taste adds more coffee/chocolate, ash and light earthy bitterness. Light-medium body, moderate carbonation, lively, tad astringent with short earthy roast finish. Solid porter but nothing really stands out, which is nice sometimes.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark mahogany pour with thin off-white top and minimal lacing. Rich aromas of malt, roast. Flavors are malty with just a bit of smokiness. A bit too carbonated and thin to really get a good rich mouthfeel though. Not bad, but there are better close by on the shelf.
