| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 9, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Nice smell of chocolate-roasted malts from the start. Pours black with bubbles on the side and a very thin head, but less fizzy than a cola. Taste has some assertiveness for a porter, with bitter coffee roast notes and more than a bit of hops in it. Dry finish. Just a little lacking in complexity. Well carbonated despite its appearance. Some coffee aftertaste. Not quite a session beer, but a meaty filler-upper for the thirsty. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 10, 2006 Good looking pour...though I generaly would like to see a more robust head. The nose was an amalgam of chocolate and espresso with a nice bittering in the finish. Somewhat flat in mouthfeel...not exactly a plus in my book! I would repeat this, if only to see if there might be a problem with the bottling line...Thank you, my friend...El_Borracho. LinusStick (1859), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 17, 2008 A decent and drinkable porter, though a bit thin in the flavor. Aroma was decent. Roasted malt mixed with coffee. Pour was a deep dark brown with a thin off white ring for a head. Taste was mostly coffee with just a hint of chocolate in and out. Very heavy carbonation which is usually good, but the taste can’t break through it. Not bad not great. Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA

Nose of roast and chocolate malts. Bitter hops with some fruits. Raisins and yeast. Flavor is again roasty with some woodiness to it. Nuts and smoke. A touch of soy. Chalky and dry palate. Bitter roast with fruit in the tail. Dorwart (1832), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 7, 2005 Decent sized head . Light tan and settles very nicely. Very mild carbonation. Nice thick sheet of lacing. Light roasted aroma with a bit of black cherry and coffee. Color is black with a very dark burgundy red halo around the glass. Medium bodied and a little fruity. More black cherry and mild coffee. Finish is roasty and pretty clean. Light bitterness and a lingering coffee aftertaste. Pretty good porter.
