Commercial Description:
Porter is our darkest beer, but not necessarily our strongest. It is widely held that the darker the beer the stronger the beer, but this is summarily false. The contribution of color comes directly from the color of malt that we use. Some malt is roasted to achieve dark color and coffee-like flavor, which in turn get transferred to the beer. Our Porter is richly complex with overtones of chocolate and espresso beans followed by a subtle flavor of hops. It’s a nourishing beer without being too sweet or filling.

Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, and some more chocolate malt. Little bitter flavor with chocolate coming through mainly...just a touch of hops as well.

I tried this beer on December 18, 2009 at "Smokeless Joe’s" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a dark brown, almost black colour with a thin white head. The aroma was weak, but consisted of roasted malt and licorice. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was bitter coffee, smoked wood, licorice, and roasted malt...with a subtle dryness to it.

Pours dark brown with a caffee latte coloured head. Aroma is strange, loads of green apple and light chocolate. Flavour is green apple, tobaco and light chocolate. This could be an infected bottle.

355ml bottle Poured a very dark, pretty much black, with about 1/2" head. The first taste was very interesting. At first it tasted kind of like a normal beer, but after about 3 seconds, it had a strong smokey, burnt taste to it. The bitterness lingered for quite a while. I’m still not too sure about this one, good thing I bought a couple of them

Pours a deep dark brown with a nice almond head and lacing. Aroma is of roasted malts, chocolate and coffee. Taste is mostly roasted malts. There is some coffee undertones but not overbearing. A nice balanced beer that is very enjoyable.

Bottle. Black with mocha head, slight reddish-brown hue. Strong roasted malt, some spice and nuttiness in the aroma, oh my. Thin mouthfeel, slight hoppy crispiness. Dark chocolate and roasted nutty malt dominate. Chewy finish. Not perfect, but very solid.

Bottle. Dark brown with some reddish notes. Medium bubbly off white head showing great retention and minimal lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, toffee, coffee, cereals and a bit of wood. Flavor is chcolate, roasted malt, wood, smoke, hops and coffee with a moderately bitter finish. Thin body, very drinkable.
