The aroma has malt balls, vanilla, cream and toasted malt. Medium body with some slickness and a nice subdued carbonation on the finish. The taste starts with effervescence and dark toasted malt (not quite roasted). There are also raisins, cream and vanilla. The finish is a bit sharp with some spicy hops. A respectable porter. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 11, 2003 This has a lot going for it - strongly roasted, sharp hop edge, thick with chocolate, and even a little nutty now and then. Looked a little watery, but the palate held up well. Would have to be smoother for me to drink more than occasionally. Suttree (2752), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

Burnt toast with honey aroma - this honey aroma seems to be common trait of Southern Tier beers - Smoky, woodsy hop flavor and a slightly acidic finish. Some burnt toast flavors throughout. Tasty. Thanks to Springslicker for this one! bierkoning (6114), La Tropica, Netherlands

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 6, 2005 Draught: dark brown with a fluffy tan head. Toasty, slightly charcoaly aroma with a clean, crisp bitterness. Well developed palate with a slight fizz, but thick with chocolate, nuts and darkly toasted grains. A bit of coffee and berry fruit sweetness, finishes a pretty tasty porter. Brodie (540), Blowing Rock, North Carolina, USA

Flavor matches the aroma, chocolatey with some biscuit flavor, roasty finish. Medium body, easy drinking. Very nice session beer. notalush (2699), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 20, 2003 Okay, so it's a bit thin-bodied for a porter, as many have pointed out, but boy is it tasty. Pours fairly dark (but not quite dark enough), with a good 3/4 inch, white head - coffee aroma - the flavor is the same, with some very unique, fruity notes, and a touch of caramel - a bit of a grainy taste comes in for the finish, which is slightly malty - overall a solid, tasty and somewhat original product.
