Commercial Description:
Porter is our darkest beer, but not necessarily our strongest. It is widely held that the darker the beer the stronger the beer, but this is summarily false. The contribution of color comes directly from the color of malt that we use. Some malt is roasted to achieve dark color and coffee-like flavor, which in turn get transferred to the beer. Our Porter is richly complex with overtones of chocolate and espresso beans followed by a subtle flavor of hops. It’s a nourishing beer without being too sweet or filling.

Pours very dark brown with a crimson hue and tight dark tan head. The aroma has malt balls, vanilla, cream and toasted malt. Medium body with some slickness and a nice subdued carbonation on the finish. The taste starts with effervescence and dark toasted malt (not quite roasted). There are also raisins, cream and vanilla. The finish is a bit sharp with some spicy hops. A respectable porter.

This has a lot going for it - strongly roasted, sharp hop edge, thick with chocolate, and even a little nutty now and then. Looked a little watery, but the palate held up well. Would have to be smoother for me to drink more than occasionally.

Reddish black, big sloppy tan head. Burnt toast with honey aroma - this honey aroma seems to be common trait of Southern Tier beers - Smoky, woodsy hop flavor and a slightly acidic finish. Some burnt toast flavors throughout. Tasty. Thanks to Springslicker for this one!

Bottle. Dark brown color, pours a huge head. Milk chocolate, raoast and ash in the aroma. Creamy flavor with ash, roast and chocolate. Soft ashy roastbitter aftertaste. Well made porter.

Draught: dark brown with a fluffy tan head. Toasty, slightly charcoaly aroma with a clean, crisp bitterness. Well developed palate with a slight fizz, but thick with chocolate, nuts and darkly toasted grains. A bit of coffee and berry fruit sweetness, finishes a pretty tasty porter.

Nice aroma, chocolate, burnt biscuits, a little bit of hops. Dark brown, thin tan head. Flavor matches the aroma, chocolatey with some biscuit flavor, roasty finish. Medium body, easy drinking. Very nice session beer.

Okay, so it's a bit thin-bodied for a porter, as many have pointed out, but boy is it tasty. Pours fairly dark (but not quite dark enough), with a good 3/4 inch, white head - coffee aroma - the flavor is the same, with some very unique, fruity notes, and a touch of caramel - a bit of a grainy taste comes in for the finish, which is slightly malty - overall a solid, tasty and somewhat original product.

About right for a porter, IMO. Roasty, but not over done. Good balance. I would like to try this one on tap, not nitro however. This porter is on the bitter end of the porter-spectrum.
