COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Porter is our darkest beer, but not necessarily our strongest. It is widely held that the darker the beer the stronger the beer, but this is summarily false. The contribution of color comes directly from the color of malt that we use. Some malt is roasted to achieve dark color and coffee-like flavor, which in turn get transferred to the beer. Our Porter is richly complex with overtones of chocolate and espresso beans followed by a subtle flavor of hops. It’s a nourishing beer without being too sweet or filling.

Draught at Haket, Göteborg. Almost black colour with beige head. Weak nose. Only suggestions of caramel and chocolate, but traces of lactose. Dark malty in flavour but all in all a low profile flavour. Dark berries lurch underneath somewhere but not much else. Medium bodied with low bitterness.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Beer Market Jaffa. Thanks zvikar. Dark brown to black with a beige head. Somewhat roasty aroma with some coffee. Roasty and slightly sweetish flavor with some coffee and a decent dry roasty finish. Medium-bodied. Well-made.

Pours a classic dark colour with some head but it dissipates quite fast. Aroma is also classic espresso, caramel... Taste is quite dry, body medium full, and a nice dry, roasted aftertaste with hints of casks and wooden barrels. Very drinkable, light but very tasty!

Bottle at home. Deep brown to black pour, thin tan head. Aroma of deep bready roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and some spicy cookies. Flavor is dry and bitter with nice smooth roasted malts. Decent body for the ABV, well drinkable and smooth. Great porter.

Undated 12 ounce brown glass bottle of "DARK ROBUST PORTER" served in a snifter. Appearance: Very dark and reddish mahogany body that looks nearly black but is clear and has exceptional ruby-mahogany edges. Creamy tan colored head soon reduces to a ring but leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Nose: Medium and dark roasted malts with light spicy hops and hints of coffee and roasted nuts. Aroma strengthens and improves with warming. Taste: Hops contribute a nice bit of spiciness and lead to an excellent sweet/bitter balance, but the flavor is clearly dominated by roasted malts. Mostly a dark roast and there’s a touch of smoke in the finish, but no unwanted burnt flavors. Coffee, roasted nuts and dark malt in the lingering aftertaste.. Mouthfeel: Nice smooth medium+ body with near perfect carbonation. O: a relatively gentle, subtle and refined American porter with admirable balance and complexity. Not as rich or strong as a typical Robust Porter.
