17thfloor (1403), Chicago, Illinois, USA Feb 24, 2008 Pours thin near dark brown with a small white frothy head. Strong aroma of raspberry syrup as soon as you open the bottle. Really tastes like raspberry flavored coffee beans. Very coffee-bean like dryness underneath the sweet generic raspberry taste. I think a raspberry chocolate stout would have been the way to go... mmm now I’m dreaming of that. Thin watery bottle not at all indicative of a porter. Beerlando (2286), Orlando, Florida, USA Feb 24, 2008 Pours a clear but very dark boisenberry color. A small, fizzy, off-white head settles quickly to a thin film. Sudsy lacing rejoins the body. Aromas of sweet raspberry jam dominate the faint, chocolate malt background. The flavor shows like a dark raspberry cola, sweet, sugary, and artificial feeling. The berry component is so overtly sweet that is covers up nearly all discernible porter characteristics. Falling on th thin side of medium bodied, a fizzy mouthfeel contributes to that unwanted cola feeling. This one just feels like it was forced. My first disappointment with this great brewery. Gmoney (250), ManchVegas, New Hampshire, USA Feb 24, 2008 bottle . ruddy brown pour . big white head decent lace . aroma of raspberry jam . flavor is bitter , chocolate ,smokey with a light hint of raspberry puree . little thin , little fizzy . ok but not great GMCC2181 (848), Bear, Delaware, USA Feb 24, 2008 Bottle. Yellow/copper color. No head, no lacing. Smells sweet, rasberry obviously. Taste is malt with a rasberry after taste. Easy to drink. Overall a decent rasberry beer. I would drink it again. Probably a good summer time brew to change things up. jimbowood (947), Athens, Georgia, USA Feb 23, 2008 Bottle. I’m not much for low gravity brews, but this one was a nice change of pace. Nice balance of malt and sour raspberry. Only drawback was soapy finish. Nice noentheless. Cobra (1060), In a van, down by the river, Maryland, USA Feb 22, 2008 12 oz. brown, longneck bottle. No freshness date. Damn twist off too. Nothing to write home about. Raspberries in the nose & flavors. Over carbonated, I’m not impressed. tsarman (794), Northern, New Jersey, USA Feb 18, 2008 I didn’t notice the raspberry that much and I didn’t really enjoy this beer. Not really one to go back to. Acariya (13), Rhode Island, USA Feb 13, 2008 I would have preferred to have had this beer taste porter first - raspberry second.. Although as I’ve been drinking it.. the raspberry taste has eased a little.. either way, this beer doesn’t really strike me as a porter.. In my opinion, anyone who gave this above a 2.5 needs to try some better beers..
The feel is too thin on the palate.. no thickness to it at all.
Wouldn’t buy it again.
