Draft at Capones. Aroma is prodominantly rapsberries. As is the flavor. Color is more red then dark and the mouthfeel and body are dissapointingly thin.

On draft at Capones. Didn’t think I would like this, especially since I’m not a fan of fruit beer, but it was better than I expected. Raspberroes are there, obviously, but also some chocolate to it. Would drink again.

Draught: Aroma of raspberries, Robitussin, and medicine. Poured black in color with a foamy brown head. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of raspberries, Robitussin, honey, medicine, and chocolate malts. Medium body. Medicine finish. Yuck!

(12oz bottle) Small tan head atop clear dark brown body. Aroma is medium sweet, raspberry, light chocolate, caramel. Taste is medium sweet, raspberry, light raspberry astringency, chocolate. Light-medium body, light acidity. Definitely more a fruit beer than a porter.

Bottle courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a somewhat flat-looking clear orange-copper with a small quickly diminishing off-white head. Aroma is predominantly artificial sweet raspberry along with a bit of caramel malt and not much else. Slightly watery flavour of raspberries and light malt. Average bodied. Why is this called a Porter? It smells and tastes like a Fruit beer and has no Porter characteristics. Lame.

Bottle: The red-tinged beer has a thin tan head. The aroma is stellar ... berries and chocolate, I can’t wait! Likewise, this drinks like a dessert tray ... the namesake raspberry is definitely there, with a well-balanced aspect with the chocolate maltiness of the beer. Like several beers here that are grossly underrated, this is a delicious brew. I love it. (#3242, 12/9/2007)
