12 oz. single from a newly discovered local shop/drive-thru. Pours a rich looking amber~brown color with a frothy 1/2" tan head and good "leggy" lacing. Aroma consists of a powerful raspberry burst that is quickly followed by chocolate and roasted malt scents, smells grand. Thin on the palate, especially for a porter, finishes thin as well. The mouth feel lacks any valuable substance. Flavor falls short of the grand aroma. Fizzy/lively raspberries both sweet and tart. Hints of nuts, toast and milk chocolate. Unfortunately these porter traits never really follow through. It is an enjoyable treat, and it would work best served in small amounts in a wide mouth glass as a dessert beer. I could see this pairing great with a simple slice of chocolate cake.

Bottle, $1.50. Pour light brown with distinct magenta coloration. Aroma of concentrated raspberry paste, wood, and milk chocolate. Appealing! Palate is creamy and mellow, which complements the sweet raspberry tart and vanilla yogurt flavors in the body. However, porter characteristics such as dark chocolate and dry roasts are notably absent. A pity, since they would have made a perfect complement for the lush raspberry. Finish contains just a hint of chocolate. This beer is just so close to being good: It could be rich, it could be balanced, it could a delicious dessert . . . but falls short as is.

Expected this to be darker. Smell is of fresh ripe berries and wine cooler. Mouth is thin. Weak carbonation. This IS a wine cooler. Where is a chocolate malt character? Wtf? This sucks. Only recommended if there’s nothin new @ your store or you’re gonna split it w some chick ur gonna nail...otherwise stick w a single...NO 6er!

Bottle on 12/13/2008 from Once Upon A Vine - South. Clear dark brown body with ruby highlights and a medium creamy tan head. Big raspberry aroma with some roasted malt and chocolate. Raspberry and chocolate flavor, some roast notes, slight grainy hints leaving a bit of astringency. Medium light body with moderate carbonation.

A beer with a really great aroma, and a big letdown in the flavor. Big raspberry aroma. Brown color, and a thin lacing head. Unfortunate cough syrup flavor that makes it quite unpleasant to drink, for as great as it smells. There is roasted malt, but all I can really think of is the bad flavor. They got the aroma right, now work on the flavor.

The aroma of this beer was so promising!!! Brownish-red pour with a small head. The nose was a chocolate raspberry dessert. The flavor was a very dulled version of the aroma. Very disappointing flavor after such a great aroma.

From 12-oz bottle and shared by Badgerben, pours a reddish brown brew with a thin beige head that has some nice retention. Aroma of raspberry and dark chocolate, flowery hops and some caramel. Taste is medium bodied with flavors of caramel malt with some raspberry syrup. Finish has a more artificial berry aftertaste that over powers some of the dark malt flavors.

Sampled at Mission Bar and Grill. Pours a brown color with a light, tanish head. Nose is very sweet malt, hints of fruit esters. Palate is thin and lacking. Flavors are sweet caramel malt, lightly fruity, not overly done, but a bit raspberry syrupy notes.
