12oz bottle from a six pack purchased at Beers of the World. Poured into an imperial pint it looks a little thin, but the color is a deep purple. Head is a thin layer of swirly white cream. Aroma is mostly raspberry. Its subtle but obvious. Pleasant to just sniff. The flavor is raspberry flavored, but I’m really not tasting the porter piece. The raspberry is nice, but there isn’t enough chocolate or roast to complement the fruitiness. Pleasant to drink, and decent enough. But not at the level of artistry I was hoping for. Southern Tier has some really cutting edge beers, but they also have the ones that keep them in business. This is one of those beers.

A big disappointment to me, considering how much i liked the porter. The initial thought that this was going to be as good. It poured a heavy looking black hue with an off-white to beige head with nice lacing. aroma had nice roasted cocoa notes and some fruit notes, neither of them really wowed me on the flavor. I found the roasted notes on the porter side a little light. I also could not get a really good feel of the raspberries. My first bottle was cold and the second warmed up a bit, so that probably affected the flavor. Beer still could have been more.

Had at McGregor’s in Chili, they just got this today. Very nice looking, dark brownish black with reddish highlights and a thick creamy head. Noise predominately of fresh raspberries with some cocoa/coffee notes. Palate is somewhat chewy, nutty and more of the true porter characteristics come in here. I’ve never had anything like this and I enjoyed it.

Pours out a clear moderate to dark brown with an upfront aroma of raspberry. Taste is of raspberry, not over powering but nice balance of sweet and tart. Some roasted malt in there but overall the thin watery mouthfeel takes a bit away from this one but its in no way a bad beer.

Dark reddish brown, moderate sized light tan head with decent retention. Aroma is raspberry dominated, lesser porter notes. Fairly sweet fruity flavor, chocolate comes in as well. Medium to light body. Looks like a hit or miss beer.

Bottle on 12/13/2008 from Once Upon A Vine - South. Clear dark brown body with ruby highlights and a medium creamy tan head. Big raspberry aroma with some roasted malt and chocolate. Raspberry and chocolate flavor, some roast notes, slight grainy hints leaving a bit of astringency. Medium light body with moderate carbonation.
