3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Ultra-clear amber with a medium head. Aroma of raspberries and light-sweet malt. It tastes like my wifes favorite beer, I imagine.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
12 ounce bottle from Beers of the World in Rochester, NY (June 2007), served from a Unibroue glass at just slightly above fridge temperature. Pours a pale, quite clear gold with very little head and no retention or lacing to talk about....pretty typical fruit-lite nose, hints of wheaty sourness but all in all like a watery soda....aaaaaand guess what this impression pretty much carries through in the flavor department, though some nice biscuity malt and a touch of tartness save it a bit; the fruit seems pretty artificial, dry and dessicated....mouthfeel is ok, body isnít as thin as I might expect. Still, Iím about to give up on this brewery; a few really solid products, but most of what Iíve had lately could have been made by just anybody.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle sampled. Pours golden with a decent size white head. Aroma of raspberries, grain, and hops. The flavor is raspberry, citrus, slight sweetness upfront, and finishes lightly bitter.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pale straw colored with a quickly dissipating thin white head. Aroma dominated by sweet raspberry and a bit of biscuit erases my hopes that this might be on the tart side. Flavor, as expected, is mostly sweet raspberries, a touch of biscuity malt, and a very small amount of hops bitterness detectable on the back of the throat in the finish. Decent enough, but as Shadey said, we all know the demographic they are going after with this one.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Pour is a clear golden color with a quickly diminishing head that reduces to only a tiny circle of micro-bubbles. Aroma is light raspberry but nothing else. The raspberry is far less attractive here than in something from say new glarus. The flavor is equally disappointing. I think southern tier is a great brewery, but this beer has a very well-known target demographic. This is the stereotypical "chic beer". They took a normal old watery, heavily filtered, sweet wheat beer and added a hint of sweet fruitiness to make it more attractive to those who typically donít like beer. Very disappointing.

1.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
UPDATED: FEB 13, 2008 On tap at the Bocktown. Ubiquitous pale yellow american lager appearance. Slight raspberry aroma, makes this smell attractive. Creamy white head. Sure has a raspberry flavor but it certainly is not sweet. More bitter than I expected. Quite the same as many below average fruit beers Iíve had. This stuff is not hazy and I canít taste any wheat so I am left wondering if there is actually any wheat in there. This taste more like the commercial description than the name on the bottle, a fruit flavored malt beverage. There is some kind of industrial bitterness in there but I cannot distinguish it as malt or hops, just bitter. Too much for a wheat beer. Less than I expected. Lancaster strawberry wheat is much better than this.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from Caponeís. Medium gold pour with a big raspberry aroma, some hopcit, and some pale malt. The flavor, complexity, and body are lacking in this. Some raspberry and slight pale malt and hopcitrus are in the flavor. Probably the worst brew iíve had from these guys.

2.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
(draft @ The Old Toad - Rochester, NY) Pale yellow color with a soapy white head. Aroma smells like fresh raspberries with some hops underneath. Smells very nice. Flavor is very sour and grassy with some metal. No raspberry in the flavor whatsoever. Smells great, but the flavor is lacking.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draught at Coles in Buffalo, NY. Pours a clear yellow-gold with a small diminishing white head. Aroma is big-time raspberries and not much else, almost like a raspberry cooler -- it smells fine but nothing like a beer. Tastes like raspberry flavoured water with a light bitter finish. Light to medium bodied. I donít mind a good Fruit Beer but this does nothing for me.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
6/12/2007: Southern Tier Raspberry Wheat Beer pours a surprising transparent, pale straw color. It has a thin, frothy, white head and has a subtle level of carbonation. The aroma is pale malts with some fake, sugary raspberry. The flavor has a lot of powdery, sweet, fake raspberry followed by what almost tastes like a mediocre Pilsener- or Dortmunder-like beer with that same slight hop bitterness bite in the finish. That initial smashed-up Smarties candy flavor reminds me a lot of the <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/Beer/michigan-brewing Raspberry. This beer is pretty light with an average mouthfeel. The color and flavor of this beer make it clear that real fruit was not used in the making of this beer. For a good fruit beer with real raspberry taste, look elsewhere (e.g. <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/Beer/new-glarus-raspb Glarus Raspberry Tart, <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/founders-rŁbśus/ RŁbśus, <a href=hhttp://www.ratebeer.com/Beer/oaken-barrel-ra Barrel Razz-Wheat, <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/abita-purple-haz Purple Haze and others... I have absolutely nothing against fruit beers, but I am very disappointed with this beer and I am really surprised that Southern Tier put their name on such a below average beer. Needless to say, my wife didnít really care for this one at all. I didnít either, but finished up the bottle anyways...
