TheGent (144), , Massachusetts, USA Apr 11, 2009 Wow this was the first beer from ST that did NOT really impress me. I did like that fact that this rasberry beer did not have any fake red coloring and did make a nice thick head but does not look like a wheat either. The smell is pure rasberry sherbert. Did not taste much of anyhting. I only kept drinking it to tip the glass so i could get more of the nice smell mjs (1446), Helsinki, Finland Apr 9, 2009 (Bottle) Golden and clear. White, fizzy and quickly disappearing head. Stong raspberry aroma with some citric side notes. Medium bodied and bit dry palate with medium carbonation. Raspberry, sweetness, some malts, honey and light bitterness in taste. Quite sweet aftertaste with raspberry. Jsawyer (282), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 6, 2009 Clearly not entirely a wheat beer by the color and perspicacity of the body. More a pale yellow-amber and no suspended particulate. Aroma was pleasant enough mostly raspberries and not much wheat. Flavor turned everything around. Pretty typical elsewise. Honestly this beer sucked. It would’ve made an adequate pale ale without the raspberries, or a good fruit-wheat beer without so much barley and hops. In any case it seems like the brewers got confused about what kind of beer they happened to be brewing. It begins simply and pleasantly enough but just when you think those raspberries will get tart enough the balance the malt they don’t. Hops suddenly appear juxtaposed to the raspberries and you get that just brushed your teeth then drank orange juice taste. Disgusting. If you gulp it down you get less of this perception and the beer is acceptable. However any thoughtful drinker would and should reject this. PhatB420 (126), Pittsfield, Massachusetts, USA Apr 5, 2009 another typical beer from the southern tier. again i was expecting much more. you could have put a sea dog label on this and i would have been convinced. dornan23 (11), New York, USA Apr 1, 2009 Updated: Oct 24, 2009bottle. aftertaste of raspberry syrup with interesting wheat beer tinge. good quiet carbonation. Beerman125 (18), , New York, USA Mar 29, 2009 It’s amazing how our tastes differ from one another. At a blind beer sampling party this beer was selected as the best of the evening. I, however, found this brew to be almost undrinkable. The overly artificial fruity aroma was a precursor to a flavor that had me looking for the closest sink. I’ve enjoyed other Southern Tier products, but this one missed the mark. johnnyoski (160), Macomb, Michigan, USA Mar 24, 2009 12oz bottle. Very light, watery yellow color with a thin white head. Artificial berry aroma, more like a chemical air freshener than a natural smell though. Starts very thin and water and leads to a berry extract flavor with soft carbonation. Funky medicinal aftertaste lingers. Light body with a watery texture. I like a good raspberry wheat from time to time but this was a huge disappointment. bhensonb (4187), Woodland, California, USA Mar 20, 2009 Bottle from Acknud. Much appreciated. Light hazy gold color with a little white head. Smells like raspberries. Near medium body with frothy carbonation. Flavor is really interesting. It’s more like perfume in a way. Rather crisp. Somewhat astringent. I’d put this forth as one of the better berry beers. Much cleaner in the finish than most. A hint of raspberry it is. Not getting a lot of hop, but there is mild bitter so it must be there.
