Commercial Description:
Don't let Tripel's light color and delicate aroma fool you, this is one serious beer brewed with maximum effort. First, we introduce freshest barley to crystal filtered water. Second, we add the best hops shipped directly for Europe. Third, our special yeast is the catalyst for fermentation, gobbling sugar and creating alcohol as it works. Some say that the Belgian monks who first brewed this style called it triple to denoted its high alcohol content. Still others believe triple's origins lay in its triple fermentation; twice in the brewery and once in the bottle. Whatever the answer, ours is the Tripel threat.

Sparkling gold with a largish white head. Sweet tangerine aromas mingle with some lightly doggy ones. Taste has relatively high initial bitterness which masks the sweetness that lies under this beer. Slightly hot alcohol bittering also a factor, and tangerine taste is also present. Bit of harsh grainyness lingers in the finish.

Slightly cloudy golden orange with medium fine head that fell rapidly. No yeast or sediment in the bottle. Spicey earthy hop aromas over some pale malt sweetness. Very little yeast character in aroma with a touch of some citrus. Spicey and somewhat grassy hop flavors over moderate malt/sugar sweetness. Finish is relatively dry with some residual hop bitterness and some alchohol warming. Very little Belgian yeast character. Maybe not a tripel, but tasty never the less.

Tasted 5/3/08. 22oz bomber. Filtered with a golden hue. Trace white ring of head. Peppery and yeasty aromas. Touch tart citrus. Medium bodied and chalky. Bitter with a cooked candy sugar flavor. Mild effervescence. Straw grainy character. Decent.

I rather enjoyed this. Medium gold, slight haze, good lasting head. Aroma was fruity, oranges with a bit of a floral note. Flavor was lightly of gummy pale malts, with a nice citric finish, with a hint of spice and floral notes. Balanced, not cloyingly sweet. One of the better tripels I’ve had in a while. You could accuse it of being a pimped out wit minus the wheat, but this was a nice beer. Surprised by the low ratings here.

12 oz bottle. pours clear orange gold with thin white head that sticks around. tart citrus nose with light mustiness. moderate thickness, high carbonation, slightly harsh bitter bite, but it smooths out a bunch as it warms. actually about half way through it began to taste really nice. alcohol is well hidden. slightly sweet, honey-like flavors. i can catch a bit of the yeast on the back end, but in general i think the funky/spicy belgian thing is pretty subdued. i think they could have gone a bit bolder on the flavors - its not a showcase for the style, but i enjoyed it none the less. definitely let it sit a bit before drinking - it was a much better beer when it warmed.

Astringent, medicinal, and citric. Not a very good tripel. I’m a huge fan of some Southern Tier beers (especially the UnEarthly) but this one just didn’t do it for me.
