dpjuart (670), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 24, 2007 Bomber courtesy/shared with ’Naka. Pours a hazy orange color with amber hues. Nose of malt and spice, with a touch of citrus and floral notes. Decently medium-bodied, spices dominate, Very dry finish, with a touch of bitterness. It really doesn’t have the big malt profile that I’ve seen in other tripels. Not a bad beer, but not necessarily a tripel in any sense of the word. cbkschubert (1945), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA Nov 24, 2007 22 oz. bottle my mother-in-law picked up from the brewery - Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a half finger thick white head. The head was a little small compared to previous Tripels I’ve poured in the past. Oh well, maybe it’s the way I poured it. Anyways it faded pretty quick leaving faint spotty lacing. Aroma is sweet malt and hops. Flavor is malty, but a little more bitter than I expected. No yeast or heavy esters in this one. Has an odd lingering taste on the palate. Medium body. This beer doen’t quite strike me as a Tripel. I’m no expert by any means, but it’s not like the others I tried. Still, worth a try. coldbrewky (716), Saugerties, New York, USA Nov 21, 2007 Updated: Nov 22, 2007Bottle: This may be one of the most apealing beers I have ever viewed in a glass. A clear and radiant amber with just a ring of head in the tulip. Nose is malts and candi sugar a bit waxy too. Solid carbonation but yet a minimal head. Maybe the glass had some residue left. First taste states a belgian style but again...you wouldnt know it from cellar temp. It does not hit you like most big brews do and is very drinkable. Bottle Note. I do enjoy the minimalist reserve on the labels of the 4 brewI hav etried from them... a similar motifof bubbles and wheat in separate clors. all bottles lack any commercial description or any pretentios scribblings. That sort of thing seems to be getting overdone in a frenzy of sales techniques. Anywho a very enjoyable interpretation of a belgian style. I agree with the slob...triple light VikingHammer (362), Lynnfield, Massachusetts, USA Nov 4, 2007 Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Aromas of citrus and coriander. Not as sweet as I would have liked. Not a great triple. Beerman6686 (1263), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 2, 2007 Smells of sugar and alcohol. Cloudy orangish hue. Sweet candy sugars, nice hop balance, and surprisingly covers up the alcohol very well dispite the smell. Thicker than average but nothing special. This beer was very strange to me because although pretty good, di not taste much like a tripel like a few other people have said. npdempse (931), St. Petersburg, Florida, USA Oct 30, 2007 Hazy, straw colored, with a smallish white head. Nose is sweet, with some grassy hop notes, some honey, and a bit of citric hop aroma that seems out of place. Way too bitter for the style. Rather musty, with some grass and earth notes in there, as well as some very faint hints of orange. Not very sweet. Very much off-style, but a decent beer nonetheless blklab2007 (932), Connecticut, USA Oct 29, 2007 bottle poured a wheat golden in color with light carbination that when poured briskly barely made a half finger head that melted to a thick covering on the surface. smell is candy sugar, spice, banana, and some caramel malt. taste is medium light on mouth feel, has a malt middle, and finishes with bitter on the sides of the tongue. more of the hops are noticeable as it sat for a few minutes and i think are responsible for the bitter finish. not what i am used to in a tripel, missing the yeast characteristic, and the hops are definitely out for the style. the 9% is nowhere to be tasted and i will say it warmed on me more as i drank it. efrumtheidiot (190), Maryland, USA Oct 24, 2007 pours dark yellowish with a white head. aroma is sweet, with banana, candy, malt, alcohol, and pine. taste is alcohol, banana, pine, floral. smooth feel, nice carbonation, bitter finish. i agree with the others, it’s a good beer but not a good tripel. not complex/potent enough. and the alcohol is a bit strong. nonetheless, give it a whirl!
