Papsoe (14613), Frederiksberg, Denmark Feb 17, 2009 Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Slightly hazy deep golden with an off-white head leaving laces. Aroma of yeast and overripe fruit. Solid body with plenty of fruit and American hops. Lightly bitter finish with a perfumy touch. 010209 Foxbush (452), Richmond, Virginia, USA Feb 15, 2009 22 oz bottle: This is my second beer from this brewery. Both have been very good. They match my taste for beer that has taste. The Tripel is a high alcohol beer that disguises it very well. The color was clear copper with a nice forthy head that laces down the glass. I do get a hint of corriander and curacao orange peel. It is a serious beer. The more I drink the more I enjoy. I need to learn more about Belgian Beers. The finish is smooth with some sweetness. thewolf (5623), Kolding, Denmark Feb 15, 2009 [Bottle @ Odense Tasting, 14th February 2009]
Thank you, Madsnp
Pours golden with lots of bubbles and a small, frothy, off-white head. Yeasty aroma, oranges and some slight pine hops. Fine mouthfeel, high carbonation. Flavour has yeast, dry hops with some spices. Quite nice, but something seems to be missing compared to real Belgians. joergen (8429), Frederiksberg, Denmark Feb 13, 2009 Bottle at home.
Cloudy amber coloured with a medium sized off white head.
Fruity aroma of caramel, coriander, hops, pine needles and marzipan.
Sweet and fruity flavour of caramel, flowers, spices, hops and pine needles.
Spicy and hoppy finish.
A bit too sweet. boto (1319), Granby, Connecticut, USA Feb 8, 2009 22oz. bomber: This one pours a clear, slightly orangish golden color. There was only a very small white head on it and it went away rather quickly. It leaves no lacing. The aroma is nice, but a tad lighter than expected. Some orange, with a hint of coriander and breadiness. The taste is actually a bit thin on the tongue. A touch of fizziness. Hints of orange and coriander to the taste, and some bitterness to the finish. I think I’ll pass on getting this one again. haddonsman (1234), Derby, Derbyshire, England Feb 7, 2009 Bottled- thanks to Phil L. Popping it open, there’s a real waft of oranges - not fresh, juicy fruits but orange restrained. On the pour, gentle orange that sparkles just enough. Fairly sweet, candied edges then follow through into the aroma. Yet it’s light candied sugar, nowhere near as intense as the style would suggest. The alcohol is well hidden; holding yourself over the glass you do get the itch down the sides of your eyes. Great aroma - oranges via a bread sauce. That first sip is surprisingly light, rather creamy smoothie with a bit of a yoghurt bite, the orange ebbs and overall it’s not as sweet as I’d imagined. Or perhaps, not as sweet as I’d hoped for?
There’s metallic apricot and a hint of bubblegum but.. to be honest, it tastes of something standing in the shadows of a better beer. mjs (1445), Helsinki, Finland Feb 3, 2009 (Bottle -- shared with Sinensis, thanks -- at Pikkulintu, Helsinki, on 2009-02-22) Amber and clear. Small white head. Teabag and honey in aroma. Dry, medium bodied palate with little carbonation. Bitterness, fruitiness, bit of syrup, hops, teabag and honey in taste.
