Commercial Description:
Don't let Tripel's light color and delicate aroma fool you, this is one serious beer brewed with maximum effort. First, we introduce freshest barley to crystal filtered water. Second, we add the best hops shipped directly for Europe. Third, our special yeast is the catalyst for fermentation, gobbling sugar and creating alcohol as it works. Some say that the Belgian monks who first brewed this style called it triple to denoted its high alcohol content. Still others believe triple's origins lay in its triple fermentation; twice in the brewery and once in the bottle. Whatever the answer, ours is the Tripel threat.

bottle courtesy of cletus. pours a nice slightly fuzzy orange with a 1 finger white, thick, creamy head. very sweet malty nose, with some doughy notes. flavor is decent, seems more like a euro strong lager with the sweetness and all. leaves a heavy surypy sweety after taste.

first off, this was served in incorrect glassware. the beer was a little thick for a triple, not a light, spicy, and bubbly classic triple. overall it is decent for an American triple but has no comparison to a classic Belgian. Noticeably inferior to Stoudt’s

I love this beer. Calling it a tripel is a stretch, but this is fabulous. Aroma was a little weak but mostly caramel malt. Pour was a boring flat hazy orange with no head. Taste was suprisingly and refreshingly hoppy for a tripel. Strong malt backbone with a hoppy bite that doesn’t linger. Tastes like a weak barley wine and nothing like a tripel. Nice beer!

10/13/08 On draft at the Dog & Pony, Renton, Wa. Aroma is citrusy with a slight alcoholic note and no classic spice. Appearance is clear gold with a medium white head. Flavor is orangy and candy sweet. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a fairly low carb feel for a Belgian. Overall, a bit too sweet, but not truly malty, a bit tough to place.

Hazy, straw colored, with a smallish white head. Nose is sweet, with some grassy hop notes, some honey, and a bit of citric hop aroma that seems out of place. Way too bitter for the style. Rather musty, with some grass and earth notes in there, as well as some very faint hints of orange. Not very sweet. Very much off-style, but a decent beer nonetheless
