csbosox (948), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA May 10, 2008 22oz bomber. Served in a Duvel tulip at 51°. Aroma is candi sugar, light fruits, coarse piney centennial hops, and a touch of wheaty tang. Copper/orange tinted color with a smallish white head. Full bodied, almost slick, with some refreshing bitterness and slight tartness at the end. Flavor is sweet malt with citrus and piney hops flavor that lasts into the finish. The wheat may give the beer a slight tang, but it seems to be content to stay out of the way. Nice enough, but possibly a touch too much residual sugars. For a summer beer, I would hold off on this one until the end of the day to be sipped around the campfire, rather than during the heat of the day.
doubleo (683), San Diego, California, USA Jul 26, 2008 Wow, I am surprised to see the scores below 4 for this brew. 22oz bottle. Pours clearish pale yellow with a good sized, white head and spider web lace. Smells light and floral hoppy with some light malt scents as well. Tastes of light, bright cereal malt flavors with plenty of nice, light, citrusy hops. Medium body, good carbonation. Nice brew, very tasty. GAManiac (217), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jul 19, 2008 Bottle. Pours a bright clear golden amber with a big puffy white head that shows very good retention and lots of lacing. The smell starts with a bready wheat sweetness with a good dose of citrus hops with oranges and lemon zest in the nose. The taste starts with a fairly dry wheat flavor up front with a strong bready malt background with the hop bitterness kicking in for the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a bunch of carbonation that tickles the tongue nicely. There is very little hint of the alcohol in this and the drinkability is very high. It’s a nice example of a wheat beer and one that I would seek out as a summer staple. DragonStout (1139), Orlando, Florida, USA Jul 16, 2008 Thanx to BeerVirgin for sending this my way.Pours a nice cloudy golden color with a small frothy white head.Nose is citrusy with a hop presence.Flavor was sweet with a small hoppiness. This finished off slightly bitter.Thank you Dawn for this! sleepylopes (264), New York, USA Jul 10, 2008 über sun may be the big brother of hop sun but he is the looser in the family. The beer is not bad but it did not live up to expectations. Melon herbal hops and sweet booz throughout. Sweetie finish I was looking for something big but crisp. mdm46410 (517), Griffith, Indiana, USA Jul 9, 2008 Poured from a 22oz bomber and served in a shaker. This beer poured a golden amber with a very light haze and a thin head of creamy, off-white foam that slightly lasted. Very good lacing. The aroma of the beer was made up of oranges, pine needles, graham cracker, and some wheat. The flavor included bitter pine, grapefruit, and a hint of wheat. Just plain bittter without much of anything else to help provide balance. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with light carbonation. Not bad, but not really my thing. Kind of boring.
