Clear bodied, orange/amber, short white head with moderate lacing. Aroma is piney but also some sweet malt. I enjoyed the grapefruit juicy hoppiness with the slightly caramel malts. Finish is long and bitter. Very easy to drink - didn’t notice the 11% at all.

Medium white head collapses quickly into a coppery amber pour. Medium mouthfeel, resinous but not sticky, with light carbonation. Nice malty flavors af molasses and a little burnt caramel becoming nicley balanced by pine and grapefruit. A bitter, somewhat astringent finishthat produces a lasting dryness in the mouth. Very enjoyable.

UPDATED: JUL 17, 2006 Bottle purchase at Premier Gourmet in buffalo, NY. Pours amber red with a creamy white head. Grapefruit hop and boozy aroma. Flavor of honey, brown sugar, iced tead nicely balanced by a pleasant hop bitterness. Finishes slightly warm and peppery, with minimal amount of resiny or sticky finish. Some british malt characteristics are hiding back there. For 11%, this is easy to drink. Well done. There is a lot of good information on the bottle, but whomever screened these used crappy ink that does not adhere. You can scratch if off, therefore some of it is hard to read.

Bottle. Clear amber/red/copper color with a white head that doesn’t last very long. Great aroma - smooth and hoppy with lots of citrus and floral notes and a bit of malty sugar smell. Flavor doesn’t do justice to the aroma, in my opinion. While very nice it doesn’t convey any of the citrus and floral notes. Very smooth though, with very well balance bitterness (with a great aftertaste). Mouthfeel is fresh and nicely carbonated. A nice beer.

Malty aroma, with a great amount hops, copper, a slim head. Full hops taste at first, with a fine malty backbone. Very well balanced, too easily drinking for such a big boy. Wonderful! Thanks for sharing tupalev!

10.5oz draught sample at Red Bones. Pours a dark copper/amber/red color with a couple fizzy bubbles on top. Nose is hoppy, but mostly sugary and syrupy. Palate is syrupy and sweet. Flavor is sugary sweet and syrupy with a light hop note.

Tap at Spuyten Duyvil. Crystal clear amber beer, thich tan head. Aroma is juicy tropical hops, peach, apricot, mango, melon, along with the requisite grapefruit and orange. Amazing hop aroma. Light maltiness in back, but the hops are the star. Flavour is equally tropical and the sweet maltiness accents the hop character nicely. Well-balanced, easy to put back. Feels nothing like 11% ABV.

At the Heavyweight Open house, July 2006: Big-bubbled head over a thick dark orange body. Sweet, strong hop aroma - very piney. This beer is brooding with heaviness, evident through its syrupy sweetness and deep bitterness. Unfortunately, there is some chemical qualities in the finish, which takes away from my enjoyment. This beer packs a punch.

UPDATED: SEP 29, 2006 on the rerate, I don’t think this one can be beat, If it had wider distribution with more hop lover ratings, it would definately be in the top tier. the aroma has sweet apple blossom and honey, outstandig, french vanilla head sits atop a medium amber, clearly filtered liquid, this reminds me a lot of 3F Dread, but the IBUS are much higher and the etoh a little higher. Damn, wish I had a few more bombers -
