22 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a clear copper color. The head is a fluffy one-finger off-white shade. It has the typical look I expect from the head of an IPA - good texture, decent retention (not the best among the style, though), and nice lacing left behind. S: First, I get bittersweet grapefruit with piny hints. The hops also bring some herbal hints. However, it’s as malty as I expected - that’s not really a bad thing, though. There is a ton of caramel, toffee, and sugar cookie, also. It might be a bit sweet for me, otherwise the aroma really works well. T: Just like I expected, it’s a sweet IPA. If there’s any proof that a shitload of IBU’s (this has 150 supposedly) doesn’t equal a bitter beer, this is it. A slight opening of sweet grapefruit and orange gives way to a finish of peach, caramel, toffee; maybe some black pepper, too. It’s faintly boozy, but all that sweetness does a good job of concealing it. There is no bitterness to this at all...I really feel like just a touch more would take this one M: While it has an initial crisp bite that (along with decent carbonation) helps it go down easily, the sweetness accumulates on the palate. It’s a bit too heavy on the palate, as well. Otherwise, O: This is so close to being a great DIPA, so close. The malt is handled well, the bitterness is nicely restrained, and the hops have a nice flavor to them. But at the end of the day, it’s just too sweet. 22 oz is way too much for this one. I’ll absolutely drink this again, and hopefully, I’ll have someone to split it with.

From a 12 oz bottle. Deep amber body topped by an exceptional off-white head. Mild, balanced and easy drinking for style ... Not quite like an APA, however, as the bitterness and hop flavor builds with tasting. Medium body and carbonation.

Another winner from Southern Tier. Pours a nice bright orange with a white head. Smells of pineapple. Taste is pineapple, orange, creme. Very nice slightly bitter finish. Had in the bottle.

Aroma - full mix of pungent and pine hops. Appearance - body is amber in color, with a large white head. Good lacing. Taste - has power packed pungent and pine hops, on top of a caramel malt backbone. Palate - medium body, oily feel, average carbonation, bitter finish.

Bouteille. [notes 2006]

Bomber. Taste is thick pine, licorice, citrus peel. Too much caramel malt for me to absolutely love. I miss the floral hops I enjoy in ST beers.

Bottle@home, from Wine Spot, Cleveland, USA. Medium/strong, sweet, barely artificial aroma of mango. Copper color with small natural white head and semi hazy liquid. Strong, balanced taste with sweet, over aged, slightly organic, fruits, mainly mango and malts. Medium taste spectrum and long, malty, bit hoppy aftertaste. Medium/strong body body with medium carbonation. Overall, high quality, bit simple, while combining good qualities of American (sweet) and English (sour/bitter) traditions.

Pours an orange amber with a thin white head. no lacing. Aroma of orange and mango with a big aroma of caramel malt. Flavor is very sweet up front with the resinous hops hitting you towards the end. Medium body. Sticky texture. Low carbonation. Alcohol present but not aggressive. lasting bitter finish. Not bad but not worth the $16 I paid for the four pack.

Aroma is malt and bread, some tropical fruit and pine but too much malt. Appearance is almost dark orange, hazy, off white head, all wrong. Taste is malt bomb, bitterness from that, pine finish, some tropical fruit but way off. Mouthfeel is medium body and light carbonation, malt and bread in the aftertaste. Overall, this is not worth the price.

Poured into a snifter. 3.0 A: Clear medium orange color. One finger of frothy off-white head. Retention is a touch below average and not much lacing is left. 3.5 S: Piney and citrusy hops. Lots of orange with some lime underneath. Clover honey, caramel, earth, and biscuit malts. 4.0 T: The taste is grander than the nose. Sugary with candied oranges, potent lime, and some lemon too. Caramel, honey, moderate bitterness. Again biscuit malts. 3.75 M: Heavier medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Nice creaminess to it. Potent bitter aftertaste. 3.75 D: Southern Tier has an awesome big beer lineup and this fits in well. Solid all around. ★ 662 characters DavoleBomb, Sep 25, 2015
