Bomber as a gift, thanks Balazs!
Deep cloudy amber - reddish color with a fine, creamy and foamy off white head. Fruity-resiny hop with grape and some citrusses, honey, vanilla, spicies and caramel, some alcoholic fig and raisins. Strong and powerful flavor with caramel, honey and raisins, fruity esters and hop with citrusses and resin, , cone and herbs, grape and fig. Wonderful IPA, the hop grows from my glass.Well done, well balanced, full harmony. Best in style i’ve ever tasted...

Got this one day after a recommendation from an employee at a Giant Eagle who had asked what i enjoyed. After he knew I enjoyed Arrogant Bastard he assumed that I had had this. He was wrong but glad I tried it because it is great.

Pours orange amber with a tan head. Smells very hoppy with a strong malt backbone. Taste is strongly bitter with some faint sweetness underneath. Medium-bodied with a smooth texture and mild mouth-carbonation, Southern Tier Un*Earthly finishes bittersweet, but mostly bitter.

Shared bottle @ Cardinal, Stavanger. i won’t even analyse this. Southern Tier know what they are doing. Clean and fresh hops dominate the beer. the alcohol is well masked. It’s so perfect, I think they’re cheating ;-)

Well balanced. Nice hoppiness. Not too bitter. Malt notes balance the hops well. Notes of honey in the finish really stick to the palate.

UPDATED: MAR 1, 2011 I think... All the Southern Tier beers are pretty damn good. The carbonation is spot on. Pours orange, Tropical fruit aromas, caramel malt aroma and flavour, good medium bitterness, dry finish. Great mouth feel. Loads of flavour, very well balanced. This is a tasty beer.

Thanks to Ohio Dad for this one. The pour was ruby with a 2-finger off-white head. Marvelous appearance. The aroma citric and fruity hops, caramel malt, with the huge honeydew/mango/tangerine/pineapple quadrafecta (or is that superfecta). The taste initially hits you in the face with piney and tropical fruity hops, and the caramel malt base reminds you that this is a well balanced beer in spite of the hop bill and the 11% alcohol. The palate is dense, very sticky, velvety, complex. I found this one to be similar to Dreadnaught, but not quite worthy of a perfecto. This one is outstanding. If you are a grizzled, pessimistic hophead like myself, then this beer will give you great joy.
