On tap and Underground Bluz. Beer poured a deep orange with a ruby cast. It sported a bubbly small head. The aroma is (predictably) citrusy but the smoky bar prevented much more delineation. The taste was surprising. Heavy malts almost like a strong Belgian ale. Very complex flavor. Anise and raison being the most notable. Hop profile is deep and smoldering. It hangs from the back of your throat like a sleeping bat. Smoky and nasty. Definitely an interesting brew. I am not giving it higher marks because the taste does not fit the style. Medium drinkability. This one cannot be rushed through. Thick texture. Long finish.

Pours a clear copper-orange with an average size off-white head. Aroma of resin and citrus hops with some malt. Big hoppy flavour, very well balanced-- delicious. Medium to full bodied.

Well balanced. Nice hoppiness. Not too bitter. Malt notes balance the hops well. Notes of honey in the finish really stick to the palate.

Bottle’s DOB is 4/2/2013. Pours a copper color with a white foam head. Aroma is booze, caramel, and some pine hops. Flavor is lots of caramel and resin, with earthy hops and some bitterness. The aging seems to make this more of a barley wine than an ipa.

fraternie (893) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 29, 2015
Deftly balanced between its layers of citrusy grapefruit, light caramel malt over a creamy body. Finishes with crisp, grassy hops and a touch of heat, but this is highly drinkable and refreshing for the abv.

660ml served in a pint glass. A: Pours a hazy orange color forming a medium soapy and molasses off white head with good retention and tons of lingering molasses lacings left in the glass. Looking closer, you can see tons of very thin particles suspended in the liquid. S: Wonderful nose. Caramel, sweet malts and piny hops. Biscuity and fruity. Strong notes of grapefruit and orange zest. A bit boozy in the very end but definitely well hidden 9.5% ABV. T: Slightly sweet upfront. Strong notes of caramel and crystal malts. Very piny hops profile. Great and very persistent hops bitterness. Again, great fruity notes: Grapefruit, orange and zest. M: Heavy molasses body. Medium carbonation. Grapefruit, caramel and pine in the aftertaste. O: Excellent drinkability. Masterpiece IIPA.

Bottle from Choice Beverages. Pours a deep amber with a large off white head. The aromas are citrus, grapefruit, pine. The mouthfeel is dry and bitter with a medium body and good carbonation. Cheers!

Ok... I’m all for hops but yeah... It almost stings. It’s extremely bitter for how strong of a beer this is. Normally big beers like this end up a little more balanced but Idk, maybe this is southern tiers war on enamel... Or more likely there in cohoots with dentists because I think I just acid burned a hole in my tooth then got a cavity around the hole...
