3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
A dry, malty stout. Flavors of espresso, tobacco, dark bread, molasses, and maple syrup. The aroma leans toward being yeasty. I didn’t sense all the spices that some others did. Pretty good, but I was hoping for better from Southern Tier.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
651 ml. bottle. Pours a medium, well retained, beige head, with some lacing, over a clear ruby brown (SRM 25) body....nose is roasted malts with cocoa, nutty tones reminiscent of almond, roasted pumpkin, light spice, minimal hops....taste is slight sweet malts, with light hints of dried fruits, almond extract, roasted pumpkin, mild allspice, hints of cocoa, minimal esters, finishing slightly dry, with mild spice hop bitterness.....mouth feel medium body, mild stickiness, slight alcohol warmth, mild acid on the finish. This is a deftly made beer. The spices and pumpkin were gently used resulting in a beer with intrigue rather than domination. This is probably a spice/herb vegetable beer not an Imperial Stout by BJCP guidelines. Rating as an Imperial. BJCP 6/3/12/4/6
