UPDATED: OCT 3, 2013 Sweet and spicy aroma. The flavor is a not as sweet as the smell would let on. It has some strong squash flavor but the spice is a bit muted. It’s pretty smooth on the tongue.

Shared bottle at craft ale house. Pours semi hazy black with some light coming through. There is a small tan head that is gone quick. The aroma has a fist of vanilla, pumpkin pie, tons of crust, light roast. The taste has pumpkin pie crust, big vanilla, a ton of pumpkin pie. Better then pumking for me

Pours a deep rich brown with varying shades of mahogany. Not quite opaque and not thick in the pour. Has a fat tan head of foam that leaves sheets of wet lace as you drink and constantly refreshes.

Nose is a pumpkin pie delight. Warm slice of pie with buttery crust. Allspice and nutmeg plus a touch of vanilla Deep toasted roasty malt steal the show on the nose by yielding up a lush sweetness and and a deep roasted earthy scent that yields up a little coffee. No alcohol on the nose.

Taste is excellent. The actual pumpkin flavor is mellow but this is a bold stout. It has plenty of spice to greet the palate and a silky sweetness from the malt that is not as strong as you might think. The roast is deep and lush and has a bit of brown sugar on it. It has a dry earthy taste with a touch of bitter right in the middle to take you to a drying warm finish. Boozy and full bodied. The malt steals the show on the palate with it’s intense bold flavor. Body is not thick or heavy, carbonation is moderate.

This is well done. Very well done.

Aroma is black licorice and spice. Color is dark almost black with a small white head. Taste is spiced with some malt, and lasting bitterness. Palate is dry and sweet, but also bitter.

The aroma of this beer is apparent the second you open the bottle, for scents of pumpkin, cinnamon, and nutmeg hit you hard with a hint of caramel malts backing them up. The appearance is a clear, very dark brown color with a small tan head that fades quickly, and the taste is mildly sweet, mildly umami, and slightly sour. The palate fuses a medium body, thick yet oily texture, soft carbonation, and a long sour and spice-filled finish.

Bottle shared with pat, Sean and Janine. Pours a deep brown, nearly black body with thin of white lacing. Aroma is nice roasty pumpkin pie. Mouthfeel is medium to light with lots of spice, pie and roast. For pumpkin-lovers this is another knockout.

Tasted from bomber bottle. Pours an almost black color but in light can see some reddish hue. Head is beige with good lacing. Aroma is pumpkin pie and cinnamon. Taste at first is a mild to moderate amount of roasted malt with a faint bit of chocolate which quickly fades to a strong pumpkin pie and spice flavor. Has a nice creamy mouthfeel that's medium to heavy bodied. Moderate carbonation. Wow this is an incredible pumpkin beer. I've tasted pumking, dogfish head pumpkin, and weyerbacher blinded head to head and Pumking was my favorite. This is like pumking on roids. It obviously tastes very similar but that little bit of stout roasted malt makes it better in my opinion. I think I have a new favorite pumpkin beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle: The aroma consists of roasted pumpkin, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, and a touch of chocolate. It pours a dark brown with some reddish-orange highlights when held to the light. It has a two finger khaki head that has decent retention before eventually fading to a thin film outlined by a thicker ring. A good sheet of lacing is left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate roasted malt,, light chocolate, and pumpkin. There’s a touch of anise in the middle. The finish is reminiscent of Pumking. There’s moderate doses of nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon, allspice, and clove. It’s medium-full bodied with light-moderate carbonation. Overall, I would say chances are good that if you’re a fan of Pumking, you’ll be a fan of Warlock.

Bomber. Deep red brown with a thin cocoa colored head. Smells of pumpkin, gingersnap cookies, allspice, cinnamon and rich malts. Sweet with a dry spicy bitterness. Heavier body with a creamy feel. This might be the closest to pumpkin pie that I’ve tasted in a beer.

Did not pick up much aroma. Pours very nicely, dark black. Very nice blend of black, caramel malts. Hint of pumpkin on finish.
