2.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
UPDATED: AUG 13, 2014 Bottle: Thanks, Kevin! Deep brown, edging on black with a khaki foam that settles quickly to a collar. Aroma is very nice; warm nutmeg, cinnamon spice, crispy graham cracker, light ginger, & a hint of roast & cocoa underneath. Taste is similar with lots of cinnamon, nutmeg, graham cracker, & finishing cocoa. There’s an inherent bitterness I could do without, almost like a heavy dirt or ash with high astringency. The aroma is kick ass, though. It smells like I want it to taste, but it doesn’t taste "stout-y" enough for me. Still resembles regular Pumking too much on the palate, with only slight "stout" notes & an unwarranted harshness about it.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle gift from Mathew Rementer. Nice notes of roast, chocolate and pumpkin. Finish was velvet smooth, hints of pumpkin and a lot of vanilla. I thought the blend was delicious and the pumpkin flavor was not overbearing.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bomber from Beer Run, opened 8/17/14. Pours a dark brown color with a thin frothy brown head. Fair head retention. Aroma of candy pumpkin, squash and a bit of roast. The taste is roast, pumpkin, candy pumpkin, mild hay and vanilla. This is the same bullshit pumpkin flavor from Pumking. I guess I should have known. Artificial tasting terrible dreck.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
My first review, here goes nothing.
the nose has a delicate pumpkin to it but a very pronounced note of spice, caramel. pours black with a medium head. taste is direct. you can’t miss the pumpkin and coffee. paired with carrot cake to compliment its rich thick palate. they go very well together as stated on the bottle. even at roomier temps, this brew is truly delicious without being too boozy.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pumpking with a tan. Smells and tastes similar to pumping, but lacks lasting power. Falls a bit flat towards the end of each sip, but overall enjoyable.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from the bottle into a snifter. Pours an extremely dark brown/black with a creamy dark tan head. Aroma is comprised of pumpkin, cinnamon, and nutmeg. The taste brings out the chocolate backbone of a stout while adding the flavors of the pumpkin. A thin beer with very little carbonation and a nice oily mouth feel.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(bottle) Pours jet black with a medium tan head that settles fairly quickly to a thin cover. Aroma reminds me of chocolate chip Kwik Trip muffins (or Otis Spunkmeyer muffins) and Yankee scented candles, although nutmeg, cinnamon, and even that pie crust element found in its paler relative is also found here. Nice cocoa and chocolate scents. Flavor holds milk chocolate, warming spice (mostly nutmeg and allspice), roasted malt, and pumpkin puree near the finish. The roasted malt lingers on with the spice and turns up sharply near the finish which yields a harsh bitterness I didn’t particularly care for. Mouthfeel is thinner than expected and carbonation is higher than expected.

Um. No. This was suggested to me by the knowledgeable employee at Total Wine & More. Since I like imperial stouts, he told me that if I also like pumpkin, which I do, I would enjoy this a lot. No. This is just not drinkable. Points given for a nice try, but this is not my kind of beer.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured black with a nice tan head. Aroma: pumpkin pie is predominant, there are also some malts and some slight chocolate notes. Taste is consistent, lots of pumpkin pie, roasted malts, some caramel, some spices... But overall pumpkin. Not bad but definitely a sipper.

2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
sort of a brown, hazy not black color. no head.Nose is cinnamon, spice, sea salt, yams and brown sugar. ugh. this is bad. super intense spice like eating pumpkin pie spice out of the canister. then there’s this sweet brown sugar, harsh bitterness. minor sweetness at the finish. Yam / candy yam finish lasts a while.

black with a tan head; roasted malt aroma with notes of chocolate and pumpkin; a smooth stout; fairly pronounced pumpkin flavor, but the pumpkin is nicely balanced with th echocolaty, roasted malt and coffee notes; I have always been a staunch believer that pumpkin should absolutely never be used in the brewing process - this is the beer that has proved me wrong
