3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Heavy cookie, and toasted cereal for the malt, light herbs for the hops, light to moderate dough and earth for the yeast, with raisin, nutmeg and pumpkin. Head is tiny, frothy, light tan with some slippery lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is very dark brown. Flavor starts slightly sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes moderately to heavily bitter. Palate is medium, slick with a lively to fizzy carbonation. It’s definitely a unique Imperial Stout. Rich and toasty, but a bit too pumpkin pie-ish for me.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 9/20/2013. Pours nearly pitch black color with a 2 finger dense light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big pumpkin, pumpkin seed, gingerbread, nutmeg, brown sugar, cinnamon, toast, pie crust, caramel, cocoa, roasted malt, herbal, and toasted earthiness. Fantastic aromas with great complexity and balance of pumpkin, spice, and malt notes with moderate roast presence; with great strength. Smells almost the same as pumking, but that’s not a bad thing. Taste of big pumpkin, pumpkin seed, cocoa, roasted malt, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, gingerbread, pie crust, toast, caramel, herbal, pine, and roasted earthiness. Good amount of roasted/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of pumpkin, cocoa, roasted malt, cinnamon, nutmeg, toast, caramel, gingerbread, pie crust, herbal, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and balance of pumpkin, spice, and dark/roasted malt flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a moderately creamy, smooth, and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent pumpkin spiced imperial stout. All around great balance of pumpkin, spice, dark/roasted malt and moderate hop bitterness; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bomber to a big glass mug. Pours an opaque dark brown, root beer color. Has a tan head that dissapates quickly. Smells like...you guessed it, pumpkins. I’m not a fan of Pumpking, and I just didn’t research this when my buddy asked me if I wanted one. There’s not much hop flavors going on, and the smoked roasted stout flavors are nice, they’re overshadowed by the pumpkin vegetable taste. At least its not a spiced pumpkin.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tallahassee, Fl - ABC Fine Wine & Spirits - 22 oz bomber. Dark brown leading to black pour with a bubbly khaki colored head that leaves a small trace of lacing. Aroma has some ripening vegetable accents, a touch of pumpkin pie spice. Flavor has some pumpkin pie spice notes, some horehound candy, a brief hint of chocolate, just a hint of molasses. Mouthfeel is slightly thin for an Imperial Stout. Decent, but not writing anybody back home about this one.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Location/Date:Bottle split with J/Michelle/Shane/Jess on December 7th, 2013.
Appearance: Pours a dark maroon.
Aroma: Aroma of pumpkin, some nutmeg.
Taste: Light roasty stout, balanced amount of pumpkin, some light pumpkin spice.
Palate:Medium body, quick finish.
Summary: Glad I finally opened my bottle of this. Really nice beer, and really I wish there were more varieties of base beer used in the "pumpkin" style as I only know of this and a few porters of the pumpkin style.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
11 ounce pour - Taco Mac in Woodstock, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours a very dark brown, near black body with a constant coating of beige suds. Faint lace on the descent.
Smell: Heavy toast, agreeable roastiness, and the familiar fragrant notes of Pumking, with pumpkin, blended spices, and graham cracker crust action.
Taste: Notably Pumking-y, but, now, with a roasty element of slightly burnt pumpkin pie crust edges. The range of spices from the original now with a sprinkling of cocoa powder. Satisfying, it holds in a roasty, pumpkiny, comfortably warming pattern until the finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium, albeit soft level of carbonation.
Overall: Looks stout-like, but feels more like Pumking, which isn’t a bad thing at all. More fun than watching Youtube clips of Black Friday fights. So what if I like watching people act like animals at stores.

What?!? A ST Impy stout that doesn’t leave me reaching for the insulin? Seriously, this hits all my happy notes as a well known pumpkin addict. Everything good about Pumking is here, with the spices, but I was surprised at just how well the roasted pumpkin integrated into a stout. Excellent in all regards.

22oz. pours black. medium body. Subtle pumpkin and spice. Not your typical pumpkin beer. Different enough, and it works for me.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle at Exira Beer Summit IV. Pours a black color with off white head. Pumpkin cookies and ginger snaps aromas and flavors. I wasn’t expecting to like this one, but it’s pretty fun to try, but probably wouldn’t want to drink more than a point of this.
