Brown with a beige head, some lacings. Aroma moderate malty (caramel, dark fruits, smoke and licorice from cask?) and hoppy. Flavor moderate sweet and bitter. Light/medium body.
MiP (6019), Flensburg, Germany Oct 7, 2007 Bottle, 6.5%. BB 2004, 3 years ago. Very malty and slightly roasted aroma. Hazy dark brown colour. Small light brown head. The flavour is roasted and quite oxidized, probably better fresh. Portish, vinous and oxidized, not exactly my favourite flavours. Thinnish mouthfeel. joergen (6529), Frederiksberg, Denmark Aug 3, 2007 Bottle.
Hazy orange coloured with a huge off white head.
Aroma of caramel, fruits and cookies with notes of berries and dried fruits.
Sweet flavour of fruits, berries, dried fruits and cookies. Grovlam (3198), Copenhagen, Denmark Aug 2, 2007 Bottle. [Courtesy of Papsoe, another great tasting session] Huge thick beige head that mostly lasted. Moderated particles were in flow. Color was mahogany. Aroma was really quit lovely with a mix of pepper, roasted malt, Belgian yeast, prunes, date, liquorish, light sweet wine like and a underlying caramel feel as well. Full bodied with a lively carbonation and alcoholic texture. Moderated to almost heavy sweet. Maybe its only downfall was the slightly unbalanced sweet domination flavor. Overripe fruit like lingering finish. I thought this was quit lovely. 27-07-07 Ungstrup (11354), Frederiksberg, Denmark Aug 1, 2007 Bottled. A murky unclear brown beer with lots of sediment floating around under a lazing tan head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel, and so is the flavor, but in the flavor notes of alcohol and spices mixes in. Nice.
