3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
28.5cl draft from tap (1/2 pint) at Cerveteca Lisboa in Lisboa (Portugal), shared with my girlfriend. This Sovina Stout is a true classic. A black, pitch dark brew with a gushy beige collar. The aromas definitely hint at roasted malts, hazelnut and coffee. The taste is likewise, with overwhelming coffee notes and a dry - not super dry, though outstanding - bitter ending. The mouth combines modest yet balanced tastes, making this an easy drinker, while the palate counts for a light to medium body. Truly refreshing, this wellknown Portuguese craft stout.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark red-brown light hazy colour with a small tan head. Aromas of bread, roasted malts, toast are dominating. Lightly carbonated with a slick texture and a medium body this beer offers a short bready sweetness with some roast bitterness. Light dry finish. Drinkable.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Huge brownish head, could have been the way the bottle was conditioned. Dark brown colour, clean. Roasted malts, coffee and wood in the nose. A bit sour in the taste, roasted malts. You can feel the hops, which is a nice thing for a stout. Light body, low on carbonation, but again...

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Tasted at Medrosa d’Alfama, Lisbon, Portugal. Poured an opaque black with a slight mahogany edge tint and a few light tan bubbles for a collar that didn’t lace. Carbonation low and fine. Aroma subtly of roasted grain with a hint of coffee. Taste of moderate roasted grain, some coffee and with moderate bitterness. Medium body. Smooth with a lingering soft moderate strength bitterness. Nice.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thanks to erzengel! An enormous gusher...half of the bottle ended up on the table. Pours a dark muddy brown with a huge, tan head. The smell is fruity and tart with dark malt. The taste is dry, chocolate, roasted malt, some fruit ending super dry and a touch bitter. Light bodies with overactive carbonation.
